When on the 8th grade football team, we all had to go through a physical, and I was surprised by the above procedure, I guess there is a medical reason why.

For our college team, we had to go to the campus health facility to get a physical before the start of the season. The upper classmen told us that the hernia test was given by a gorgeous, young Asian woman and try not to get too “excited”. When we got to the test, it was an 80+ year old Hispanic man.

The correct place to check for an indirect inguinal hernia is to press on the pubic arch on both sides of the penis. If there is bulging on either side, the potential for such a revelation is very high.
The scrotum has very little to do with the detection of this condition.
