My opinion, This is communist BS. NASA is working with china the muslim world to legitimize them. IMO this is what this is.
Explanation: During the day, over 12,000 large mirrors reflect sunlight at the 100-megawatt, molten-salt, solar thermal power plant at the western edge of the Gobi desert near Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China. Individual mirror panels turn to track the sun like sunflowers. They conspire to act as a single super mirror reflecting the sunlight toward a fixed position, the power station's central tower. During the night the mirrors stand motionless though. They reflect the light of the countless distant stars, clusters and nebulae of the Milky Way and beyond. This sci-fi night skyscape was created with a camera fixed to a tripod near the edge of the giant mirror matrix on September 15. The camera's combined sequence of digital exposures captures concentric arcs of celestial star trails through the night with star trails in surreal mirrored reflection.

I visit APOD every morning in addition to being part of this ping list. I started reading the explanation of the image on APOD site this morning, got two sentences in and clicked away. What a bunch of rubbish. Too, too farfetched and an insult.
I’m missing something here. What is the purpose? What is the end product supposed to be??
It’s a time-lapse photo of the mirrors at a Chinese solar power plant reflecting starlight at night. Just supposed to look pretty, I guess.
I looked it up on Google Earth. It’s easy enough to find. Am I missing something..
Just because China says it is 100 megawatt does not mean it is true. And even if it can hit that mark what part of the day does it do that. Do they want us to do this...the answer is yes. They are building coal plants and trying to get us to build solar. A
I take your word for it, I’m not knowledgeable enough to know wether or not they are capable of that kind of output. It does seem like that complex is kind of small for that.
There should be a lot of dead birds littered about.
I just get upset at how Woke NASA has become. Zero gave them a muslim outreach goal to show them how much they have led science. Then Brandon is slobbering all over China. Now half of the APOD photos seem to be muslim or Chinese when NASA has photos of their own that are far better.
Now, THAT is a good one. I almost choked on my blueberry pie as I was reading that
californias-new-solar-power-plant-is-actually-a-death-ray-thats-incinerating-birds-mid-flight

snip...."Unfortunately, though, anything that happens to wander too close to a boiling tower is very rapidly cooked by the focused sunlight. Workers at the Ivanpah solar power plant call these birds "streamers," as they ignite in midair and plummet to the ground trailing smoke. Federal wildlife investigators said there was, on average, one streamer every two minutes -- or hundreds of thousands of incinerated birds per year. Another expert estimated that the number is nearer 28,000 per year. BrightSource's own estimate is around 1,000 roasted birds per year. BrightSource is reportedly(Opens in a new window) looking to build an even-larger power plant, which wildlife officials say could be "four times as dangerous" to birds. BrightSource has offered $1.8 million in compensation for the expected bird deaths. There are photos online of the cooked birds if you're interested, but I won't share them here; they just look like sad, singed birds."
Another liberal solution with bad consequences for the environment! Compensation for the dead birds? Scam by the state to skim off $ from bird deaths.
I have NOTICED exactly what you’re talking about! I’ve noticed that the photographers of so many of the pictures that NASA has put up for APOD have been exactly as you say. And I’ve asked myself, “Don’t they have any pictures from American photographers, or at least Westerners?
The pictures that aren’t from professional observatories or space probes have been from Chinese or Muslims. At least the vast majority have been.
“Chinese or Muslims” Get your own APOD.
