Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A Krispy Kreme delivery driver in Alaska captured a photo when he caught an unusual pair of thieves -- a mother bear and her cub -- raiding doughnuts from the back of his van.
Shelly Deano, manager of the Krispy Kreme Express store on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, said the driver was delivering doughnuts to the store when the bears entered through the open back door of the delivery vehicle.
The driver snapped a photo that was shared on Facebook by Krispy Kreme Alaska.
"You could hear them breaking open the packages," Deano told KTUU-TV. "We were trying to beat on the van but they just kept eating all the doughnuts. They ate 20 packages of the doughnut holes and I believe six packages of the three-pack chocolate doughnuts."
Deano said base security personnel were able to drive the bears away by blasting loud sirens.
Candice Sargeant, general manager of the Krispy Kreme store and the location in Wasilla, said it was a learning experience for employees.
"We'll definitely be learning to slide up our ramp, close the doors, to ensure that bears don't get back in there again," she said.
I know just how the bears felt.
Yes, bears with good taste tasting goodies.
Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo taking advantage of the situation.
Are you sure it was not Christie in a bear suit?
