I guess many books from before 2008 do not properly promote communism and may actually depict the horrors of communism.

That’s one of the things they did in Brave New World.

They feel the need to be as “1984” as possible. They don’t have the time and manpower necessary to rewrite all books prior to 2008. Instead, they purge them entirely.

At least in “1984”, Orwell had INGSOC giving the illusion that history was a thing.

Brave New World and 1984 were not supposed to be instruction manuals.

That includes “1984”. Irony is ironic.

Will these removed books be burned? I think they should be.
After all, there is solid historical precedence for it.

This is what has happened historically when one nation conquers another.

The conquering nation removes all references to the conquered nation’s history, culture and traditions to ensure an easy assimilation to the new culture that will be imposed on the subjugated population.

Do you know what books were being burned?

You should do some research on the Weimar Republic and Magnus Hirschfeld.

Then ask yourself why you are just learning about this now.

“Who’s the arbiter of what’s the right material to go in the library.."

Ignorant wretch. It's a rhetorical question, right? Because everybody knows the mongrels who decide what's right and what's wrong are the last persons on earth qualified to make such determinations.

Isa 5:20: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

And, woe to them who allow such trash to make such decisions. Because sooner or later, it's coming back to bite them.

I know which books were being burned. They were books the Nazis found offensive. Books written by Jews, books written by communists, books written by deviants, etc.

I hope you’re not suggesting that the Nazis were correct in burning at least some of those books. In a free society it should be up to the individual, not the state, to decide which books should be read.

Of course Nazi Germany was not a free society. We (the US and Canada) are moving in that same sad direction.
That was my original point.

No, but unfortunately, that’s exactly how it turned out.

“The past controls the future, and the present controls the past.”

Or, as a Soviet-era Muskovite put it, “The past is being rewritten so fast that you can’t know what happened yesterday.”

These people are so much smarter than anyone writing before 2008.
I mean “What has Shakespeare or Dickens ever contributed to the English language?”
