I know which books were being burned. They were books the Nazis found offensive. Books written by Jews, books written by communists, books written by deviants, etc.
I hope you’re not suggesting that the Nazis were correct in burning at least some of those books. In a free society it should be up to the individual, not the state, to decide which books should be read.
Of course Nazi Germany was not a free society. We (the US and Canada) are moving in that same sad direction.
