Researchers are urging people to stop wearing unclean socks to bed after discovering that they often contain the same bacteria found in cockroaches and their fecal droppings.
Experts obtained by Mattress Next Day polled 1,017 Brits about their sleeping habits and discovered that 18% wear socks while sleeping.
A sickening 70% of those sock-wearers don’t bother changing into a clean pair before bed, instead staying in the same pair that they’ve worn all day long.

I actuallly use a pair of sleeping socks. In winter they are really thick socks.
Do they also recommend you clean your arse before going to bed?
I cannot imagine going to bed in dirty socks. Shower in the morning and before bed. Gross.
Same here. I would never wear socks at all if not for work and since I’m retiring soon, even then I won’t need to.
My husband wears socks to bed, but he also always wears some sort of slipper/shoe in the house. I do not think his feet get very dirty.
Wearing socks to bed makes me overly warm.

It’s a nasty world. Gotta get ‘natural immunity’ or die. Wear those socks!
So Annie was actually saving Nuke’s life?
I’ve never worn socks in bed unless I was passed out drunk (in my younger days).
So let’s say I cleaned out a bus station’s toilet with my socks, so they were more germ-filled than you could imagine... So what? Are those germs going to go any place that could harm me?
Alternatively, let’s say I took my disgusting, germ-filled socks off BEFORE I got into bed... So what? Did the authors imagine that people scrub their feet clean before getting into bed? I mean, if I shower I do, but then I’d put on clean socks if I happened to wear socks to bed. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.) Putting my dirty socks BACK on would feel gross.
How exactly would one sleep IN a toilet? Would that include putting your head in the toilet? If a toilet WAS large enough to sleep in, and was flushed regularly, maybe it wouldn’t be so dirty? But then you’d probably drown in your sleep?
I gave up wearing socks to bed for hip waders years ago. A cockroach turd has a steep climb to get into them and if sleep walk to a trout stream I can catch a creel full and never wake from my slumber.
I dare the NYCompst to challenge any FReepers sleeping habits to 99% of NYorkers. Let’s get a real thing going
So dirty underwear is OK but no socks?
How do you sleep in a toilet?
The first line repeats.
Implies that the so-called "experts" were "obtained" (aka bought and paid for).
I have a few times when camping in very cold weather. But I put fresh clean socks on my unwashed feet, Keeps the sleeping bag clean.
Experts say, people who care what experts say are retards.
