Florida emergency management officials were called to a large sinkhole in the same area where one opened three months ago.

In 2006 Scott Lake itself was swallowed by a sinkhole. It was mammoth and an overhead video was just astonishing. The entire Lake gone. It basically swallowed every bit of wildlife in the lake, including a bunch of alligators along with the fish and turtles.
One of the interesting aspects of this event was that Scott Lake had no Public Access, it’s a pretty well-off property owners owning all the shoreline. They would not allow any public access to the lake. When the sinkhole happened, I think it also affected some of the property on the shoreline. The property owners all the way around the lake wanted the state to foot the cost of restoring it. The state said essentially, you people own all the property on the lake and wouldn’t allow Public Access, so it’s your problem
