So, an old gezzer dies. Looking though his stuff, relatives finds the skull. They do not want the police involved, so they drop it off in the Goodwill box.

But this is a bit creepy.
Up until 2016 eBay allowed the sale of human skulls. A group in California called Tibetan Magic was importing them from China. During massive road-building projects, China bulldozed a lot of cemeteries, villagers would gather the skulls and sell them to people who exported them to the US and other countries. I remember reading about a guy who had bought 5 of these skulls and had them in his apartment. A neighbor saw them and reported him to the police as a possible serial killer. Fortunately, the guy had kept copies of each of the listings for the skulls he bought. Most of the skulls sold by Tibetan Magic went for $100-$250.

Well, we know a retired physician who owns (owned?) a human skull. It was left over from medical school days.
IOW - there are legitimate reasons for a human skull to end up in a donation box. Is it a bit weird? Yes.
You would prefer that it was put in the garbage can?
How else could one deal with this?
