The daughter of a 60-year-old woman who was beaten with her own cane in a disturbing caught-on-camera assault in Harlem said she’s angry nobody came to help her defenseless mom — as cops identified her alleged attacker as a 43-year-old man with at least nine prior arrests.
Laurell Reynolds, 60, of the Bronx was walking through the West 116 Street and Lenox Avenue station at about 3:30 a.m. Friday when Norton Blake allegedly stripped her cane from her and beat her with it, according to NYPD officials and a disturbing two-minute-long recording of the crime.
Nobody stepped in to help Reynolds — even as the creep struck her so hard and so often that her wooden cane shattered.
“I’m hurt — it hurts,” her daughter, Lashanne Reese, 41, of the Bronx, told The Post on Tuesday. “That man could’ve killed my mother … You all did nothing. I have a problem with that.”

Why would he help? In NYC, he’d likely be charged with a crime if he did.
I find nothing shocking about that video. As a matter of fact it is exactly the kind of behavior I expect to see in a rat run hell hole.
The blame goes on the democrats who allowed this creep to roam free on the streets, and on the politicians who charged with murder a man who subdued someone who was going wild threatening people on the subway.
No one is going to help any more. And so the politicians have accomplished an important goal of theirs: destroying peoples’ innate sense of right and wrong and the sense of trust that holds a society together.
You’re right.
Try to help out, and you’ll end up in jail like that former Marine.*
Try to defend yourself, and you’ll end up in jail like Bernie Goetz.
* Or maybe all cut up. There are many stories of NYC Good Samaritans getting knifed for their troubles.
So maybe the split-second choice isn’t be a hero or be a coward. Maybe it’s hero, or coward, or cautious.
It’s not more helpful to submit this for public awareness and witnessing than to stop the guy and end up in jail in a city that clearly favors the perp?
It is.
THAT’s the new culture
“3:30 a.m”
Would it be wrong to make a suggestion here?
Bad habits - attitude
Obombobots
Reminds me of the ukraine
I know what will fix it! Just vote straight Democrat! /sarc
As so many above have pointed out, the last guy that tried to help got a prison sentence for his efforts.
My best advice to Ms. Reese: In the future? Vote better. If you did vote better, convince your friends to vote better.
Move the eff out of the Mitthole, lady.
I got $10 bucks that says Laurell Reynolds and her daughter, Lashann, hate Trump with a passion and have voted Democrat all their lives.
Sure would be terrible if a citizen were to follow the perp when he exited the jail after his release without bond...
She’s tried to talk her mom out of taking the train at night. But it hasn’t taken.
“She’s stubborn,” Reese said. “You know older people get a little stubborn.”
The citizen would have to deal with the rest of the thug's vicious gang, too - the prosecutor, the judge and their armed muscle...
The moronic daughter works with the U.S. Justice Department for exactly what her mother experienced:
“...we have worked to bring the idea of community justice to other New York City neighborhoods (Red Hook, Harlem, Brownsville, and others), and to jurisdictions around the world that are interested in reinvigorating public trust in justice, reducing the use of incarceration and forging new responses to minor offending. We have also helped launch the National Community Court Initiative, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance.
We have also worked to spread the idea of community justice beyond courts. For example, we have worked with prosecutors to encourage them to not only prosecute cases, but to solve public safety problems, prevent crime, and improve public trust in justice. Rather than simply tallying cases won and sentences imposed, prosecutors should measure the effect of their work on quality of life, community attitudes, and crime. To support such efforts, we work with local prosecutors and national experts such as the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and Fair and Just Prosecution.”

It took four people to write this article?
Hadthey helped thye’d probably end up the criminal... It’s NYC.
Because in NYC, the person intervening is the one most likely to be arrested and serve jail time.
New Yorkers voted for it and apparently is the way they want it.
Unless you’re absolutely sure you can take that guy down with no problem, I wouldn’t recommend jumping in, or he might throw you on the tracks and continue beating that woman. The best thing is to call 911 and give video evidence to police. Others will disagree, but I’m a woman myself, and I rode a subway for years.
Don't go out on NYC streets at night.
Don't go out on NYC streets during the day.
