Manley High School, for example, has a capacity of nearly 1,300 students, but just 64 kids attend the school and only 2 percent of the kids can read at grade level.

And Uplift High School – where operational spending is about $30,400 per student – has just as many employees, 54, as there are students, 55. Despite that 1v1 ratio, only 3 percent of students are proficient in reading.

And Douglass High School has both a principal making $147,000 an assistant principal making $122,000 – all for managing just 44 students.

The people that can escape the hell hole do it & those that are stuck there seem to do nothing. Have many families decided to homeschool or send their kids to charter/private school, or what? For the high school age kids, I imagine there are a lot of drop-outs?

Chicongo's Mayor/teachers union official will correct this waste of funds as soon as possible.

Yeah, that didn't NEED a sarcasm tag! Well played!

“So where are the kids? Truant? Moved away? Julie? Imaginary?”

It’s Chicago...a lot of them have been shot.

The school system is there to support the TCU...

Well, they didn't do a good job of it on Saturday. TCU lost to Colorado.

A very small percentage of Chiraq public school students.

Chicago Housing Authority has over 130,000 tenants.
Chiraq has only about 700 homicides a year.
The public schools have 300,000 students.

They would not even miss them and probably count them present to collect Federal/state funds.

Don’t see any info on the racial makeup at those schools.

Given the level of performance, probably Asians.

Possible; not probable.

My 8th grade class in grammar school had about that many students - at the cost of a nun who was making room and board (and we all learned to read at grade level or better).
```````````````````````````````````````````````````
Total enrolment at my little school, grades 1 thru 12, was about 350.
Grades 1-6 had 1 teacher per grade. Grades 7&8 had 2 teachers one taught English and history and geography to both grades. Math and science both grades was taught by one man who was also the grade school principal. In high school the principal also taught all math classes. Even the superintendent taught a few classes.
Tax payers got their money’s worth in the ‘50s and ‘60s (at least in small town Missouri they did.)
