Even more bad facts about Chicago Public Schools’ 20 emptiest schools – Wirepoints Quickpoint
Wirepoints ^ | 26 Aug 2023 | Ted Dabrowski

Manley High School, for example, has a capacity of nearly 1,300 students, but just 64 kids attend the school and only 2 percent of the kids can read at grade level.

And Uplift High School – where operational spending is about $30,400 per student – has just as many employees, 54, as there are students, 55. Despite that 1v1 ratio, only 3 percent of students are proficient in reading.

And Douglass High School has both a principal making $147,000 an assistant principal making $122,000 – all for managing just 44 students.

The school system is there to support the TCU, not the students. Mayor "BLM" Johnson is a puppet of the CTU.

Some schools are being converted to housing for illegal aliens, so we're paying twice - once to pay for empty schools, and once to fund the illegals.

Chicago robs the rest of the state by way of control over Springfield.

If the KKK designed an educational system to suppress minority education, it wouldn't look any different than today's Chicago school system.

“empty schools, and once to fund the illegals.”

yes have no fear .. the illegals are here ....
riding to the rescue of the public school system..

1000s of non english speaking non vaccinated ..hungry little kids will be filling all those slots.

And if you thought it cost a lot to manage an empty school ...just wait till it gets full.
Happy days for school admins and lefties every where.
.... for me and you? ...not so much

Only 64 of the 1300 kids attend school? They must all be dead in Maui.

Sadly, it is true.
And just the tip of the iceberg.

My 8th grade class in grammar school had about that many students - at the cost of a nun who was making room and board (and we all learned to read at grade level or better).

“just 64 kids attend the school and only 2 percent of the kids can read at grade level. “

Old math says 2% of 64 is 1.28. Interesting. Does that .28, basically 25% of a kid get extra special education due to his/her missing parts?

Guessing, a teacher receives an additional funding bonus for the successful .28% of reader?

If you see the Dems and the left, but I repeat myself, for who they are then it is completely believable.

Fortunately, my parents made an escape from Portage Park (Smyser school)up to Glenview!

I attended the Lutheran school and most attended OLPH, only one kid in the entire neighborhood went to the public school (Lyon Elementary).

I never heard of any students not being able to read.
And I’m forever jealous of my buddies who learned a deep understanding of Latin. Very useful to this day.

My wife was born, raised, educated in a rural section of Illinois. Her Illinois relatives and friends are good hard working citizens.

Those still living in Illinois are basically supporting their local schools and Chicago’s worthless schools/?’s with one way taxes going to be wasted in Chicago’s/CTU/???.

More fruits a printed, fiat, centrally-issued currency, supporting massive debt and taxes, distributed to cronies and supporters of the regime.

It its like our local city schools - they get 75% of their budget from state and especially FEDS. You know, because of “equity” and stuff.

—So where are the kids? Truant? Moved away? Julie? Imaginary?”

A good question.

An AI answer...
Generative AI is experimental. Info quality may vary.
—Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has lost 8,300 students after a decade of enrollment declines. The pandemic accelerated enrollment declines as families switched to homeschooling, charter schools, and other options. Other factors that may have contributed to the decline include:
Dissatisfaction with high school options
Declining birth rates
Families moving out of Chicago
Some parents wanting to keep their kids at home because of the coronavirus
CPS’ first year of full-time, in-person learning during the pandemic
CPS’ relaxed requirements for entry into its virtual academy
CPS’ funding
CPS receives about $1 billion less than what Illinois considers adequate funding. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of state money each year service the district’s massive debt rather than provide for classroom needs.
CPS has 329,836 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. According to state test scores, 17% of students are at least proficient in math and 21% in reading
Of those students, 91% came from low-income families. According to CPS Chief Portfolio Officer Alfonso Carmona, multiple factors contributed to the drop enrollment. These include dissatisfaction with high school options, declining birth rates and families moving out of Chicago.J
