Meanwhile, Willie Nelson (90!) lights up one more ‘prescription’ Doobie before breakfast.

Good musician but a flaming leftist. For the former I’ll miss him, for the latter, I won’t.

(A list of contacts identified as Epstein’s “Little Black Book” was published by the now-defunct webSite Gawker in 2015 and contains hundreds of names, including those of celebrities, politicians and other A-listers, with their phone numbers and email addresses blacked out.

Notable entries include former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, actor Alec Baldwin, singer Jimmy Buffett, industrialist David Koch and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.)

My personal favorite Jimmy Buffet song:

A Pirate Looks at Forty

Jimmy Buffett was a big deal in Cincinnati, Ohio. He usually had a concert there on an annual basis and a huge number of Parrot Heads always showed up. We lived a short distance from the outdoor Riverbend Concert venue where he held his show and could hear the music in the distance.

His big shows were gross to work at. There would be large amounts of vomit everywhere after they ended. It seems his fans would use the occassion to drink until they puked.

At least he passed before that song gets cancelled for mentioning meat.

Here’s mine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKGw_hrlaOY. First Buffet song I ever heard, still my favorite. Not a Parrothead but I enjoy his music. RIP Jimmy.

My family went to his concerts every year for at least 20 years. I went to one of them four years ago and really enjoyed it and I have liked several of his songs.

During the concert he had to open his mouth and denigrate the USA and Capitalism so I never went back.

My wife read his obit this morning and his net worth was north of $550 million. He made over half a billion dollars and has the hypocrisy, ungratefulness, temerity, and stupidity to tell people enjoying his music who paid big bucks for the tickets that the system that made him extremely wealthy stinks.

I’ll still listen to his older albums that I own but will not shed a tear.

Isn’t it amazing how many free-market-hating socialists live in opulence and die RICH?

In the entertainment industry, the powers that be decide who gets to be successful, and to be successful you have to “kiss their ring”, which means being loyal to The Democratic Party.

“Jimmy Buffett was a big deal in Cincinnati, Ohio.”

I grew up in Florida and have lived in the Cincinnati/Dayton area for 30 years. I was shocked how popular he was here. His Cincinnati concerts were like festivals.
I never knew the reason for it but I think it stemmed from the opening line in”Fins”: “She came down from Cincinnati, it took her three days on a train.”

RIP

Damn all my favorites are dying off. I guess when you (meaning me) get to be 72 that should be expected. RIP Jimmy. Enjoy your eternity in Margaritaville where it’s always 5 o’clock.

One of my all time favorite.

Sad to hear about his passing. He’s in rock-n-roll heaven joining that “hell of a band”.

RIP

Grew up in Gulf Shores back in the day. In one of his books he talked about how he and some friends would come over from Mobile and surf at Alabama Point (great waves from the crosscurrents) and he mentioned that there would always be local kids there too.

Pretty sure I was one of those 'local' kids he was talking about since when we were down there (Surf's Up) there would often be some guys from Mobile there too.

My wife and I still eat at LuLu's whenever we're in the area. Well, as well as Throw'd Rolls and DeSoto's too.
