If I was a lawyer for the family, I might be inclined to argue that the cops knew she was a black woman, and as such they should have known that young black women are not likely to respond to police orders.
“Are you going to shoot me?” should have been a clear signal for these white racists cops to holster the weapons and let her go.
Her negritude was ignored. The cops were clearly racist.
I was on a grand jury, some time back, and a case came up in which a young woman told the cop that pulled her over that she didn’t want to talk to him, and she drove home, obeying all of the traffic rules. He arrested her on a felony charge of evading. I’m not sure what came of it. Probably plead to a lesser charge, but I hope she learned something.
