It really is publicly insulting, humiliating, and demeaning and probably discriminatory for elderly citizens to have to go through this charade at the hands of witless cashiers (young enough to be their grandchildren) whenever a bottle or two of wine is included with groceries. Where's the lawyer who would try this case?
“Yeah, I’m not an elitist snob and Walmart has better prices. Don’t tell me that you ARE a snob?”
So you are a DREG. Figure.
By the way, read my tagline, I’d hate to be known as a dreg too.
...and by the way, I’m convinced that MANY HERE actually do shop at Walmart and eat at McDonald’s, but then turn around and blast them to their ‘friends’ (and fellow FReepers)...otherwise those chains would not be doing nearly as well.
Depends on state laws. In TN it is required for anyone.
Heck, you have to shoe ID to get a Bic lighter in TN.
Do you let them scan it too?
Sounds like a yankee thing. Those people have no sense.
Wrong room. Humiliation is next door.
Yes I agree. Stupid. Do not comply. Ask for the manager. 😉
It is IMPOSSIBLE to get drunk in Utah.
Most of the time this is a local ordinance. For example, when I am in Dublin GA every establishment cards me when purchasing alcohol. Other cities in GA don’t do this.
Card everyone isn’t a bad policy.
If you don’t where do you draw the line?
Cops send in very old looking minors to try and entrap businesses.
In GA, it’s the law...no Id, no drinkee.
Maybe the same elsewhere.
I am not flattered to be carded, I am irritated. I look my damn age, fools...
Lol! Dregs of the world unite!!!
Like other snowflakes, FR Snowflakes don't like reading comments from people who don't agree with them.
You can steal it while wearing a mask, but don’t try to buy it, or they want to see your Social Security card. Makes sense.
Reminds me of the seventies when they had a highway patrolman every mile of the freeway enforcing the 55 mph limit, but all these serial killers were running free.
I bought a bunch of pipe cleaners at my CVS for one of my kids school projects a few year ago they required ID.
“Lol! Dregs of the world unite!!!”
Yea, you can join me! Nothing beats a Double Quarter Pounder, with Cheese.
As to Walmart - when a department store sold OIL FILTERS that fit my car (and of course, many others), I was sold - no other department store in my lifetime could hold a candle to them.
...but please keep this discussion just between us, as I’d hate to be labeled as a ‘lower class person’ here.
Yes, Walmart sells booze (not just beer and wine) in NV.
I've been traveling internationally for work since I was 23 years old (55 now) and I've never been asked for an ID to buy alcohol anywhere other than the U.S. We've got a president that's in the pocket of China, a stolen election, and an out of control banana republic legal system that's doing everything they can to persecute the former president to keep him out of office. None of that's important, but passing laws to make sure an 80 year old has to prove he's not 20 is what some consider important.

Ok, but there is where we might differ (and I realize your comment was sarc). I couldn’t care less what people think of my Walmart patronage... or anything else, for that matter.
The poor minimum wage employee is just doing the job they are required to do at the risk of being fired.
Blame government and their stupid laws. Please don’t blame your angst on people who are trying to make their way during Bidenomics. That’s just being a cranky old man telling little kids to get off your lawn.
