Stanley Kubrick is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Of his 13 movies a few are considered classics in their respective genres. Including the black comedy Dr. Strangelove, the highly-quoteable anti-war commentary of Full Metal Jacket, and one of the most disturbing horror films of all time, The Shining.
But in 1968, Kubrick released "2001 - A Space Odyssey". This is more than a classic. It's a masterpiece. And widely regarded as one of the best science-fiction films of all time, and probably the most influential.
This collaboration with science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke tells the story of an alien intelligence that visited Earth in the distant past, and left behind artifacts in the solar system.
The movie (2001 - A Space Odyssey) features ground breaking special effects, which still hold up today.
In fact, the effects looked so good that the movie gave the American Government an idea.
Billions of tax dollars were invested in the space program but the Soviets were still years ahead of the United States.
NASA desperately needed to get to the moon before Russia, but they knew it was impossible. So they turned to one of the World's Best Filmmakers for help. Because when it came to the moon: if they couldn't make it, they'd fake it!

The universe has been around a long time. The earth a lot less. Humans, a mere slice of that “lot less.”
Some stuff, like constellations, move slowly to those of us on earth. 4,000 years is akin to a fart cosmically.
BTW, there’s no need to put gravity in scare-quotes.
You can verify the inverse-square law of gravitation attractions for yourself. Repeat the Cavendish experiment. No fancy optical technology required ... just a room with no air currents, four big steel balls, a broomstick, and some string.
BECAUSE WE DIDN’T NEED TO!
We had the Van Allen radiation belts well mapped out already and knew how to go around the worst of them, through the fringes quickly, and not be harmed.
I know it’s rocket science, but if you’re what you seem to sort of hint at claiming to be you already understand that.
Are gasses subject to gravity? Or gasses trapped in a balloon? Serious question.
on a flat earth...
OF COURSE they do. "Level" means "perpendicular to the gravitational vector. That is indeed how a bubble level works. Since Earth is round-ish, "perpendicular to the gravitational vector" describes a sphere-ish, rather than planar surface.
but I don’t believe it.
That would seem to be a personal problem, and suggests that there really IS no evidence, no measurement, no experiment, that would "prove the ball is spinning" to you.
Have a nice day.
Every object with mass is subject to gravity. It’s the nature of the beast. Gases are composed of individual atoms and molecules; they’re subject to a variety of forces including gravity.
Serious question: What’s the greatest height above sea level you’ve been?
I think you’re right, they are personal issues, but I would believe if an experiment showed me. Before you go, tell me how astrology has proven that we’re moving.
Over the decades, thousands of US engineers were in on the "Hoax" (right), we poured billions upon billions for a faked movie (right), the thousands of Russian engineers decided that they were all in on it too (right), the thousands upon thousands of Chinese engineers woke up and also decided they were all in on it (right), and now thousands of Indian engineers are also all in on it (right).
They all wrote fake technical papers trying to one up each other to propagate the "Hoax" (right). The US used analog and 16-bit computing machines, stayed up forever working and toiling to get things just believable enough to propagate the "Hoax" (right). The Russians and Chinese risked life and limb from their task masters to propagate the "Hoax" (right). The Indians are now risking technical ridicule in today's open society to propagate the "Hoax" (right).
But a couple of people on the internet use the time honored research techniques of "Surfing" and "Googling" to find out "The Truth", and all of a sudden we are all being lied to.
(right)
Astronomy.
Not astrology.
Big difference.
The daily, monthly, and yearly motion of objects in the sky, along with the observed illumination pattern on the surface of the earth, simply cannot be explained by a flat earth model. I’ve seen numerous attempts, ewetewb is full of them, and they all fail miserably. Flat earth videos do a great job of disproving flat earth.
Nah. All those astronauts and top scientists conspiring to lie to the world? ..knowing sooner or later it would get leaked and they would get exposed? …knowing they would immediately go from being national heroes to utter frauds?
It makes no sense. NASA wasn’t just made up of greedy corrupt bureaucrats like today’s deep state - it included hundreds of serious scientists who cared deeply about their reputations and legacies above all else.
sorry about that. Please see post #42
yes that is what I said. I believe that most people don’t have a background to claim one way or the other. most of us are dependent on other people’s judgment in this area. I believe most Likely the moon landings happened, but I won’t ridicule someone that has doubts. 45 years of time passing obscures a lot of historical facts and if I felt the need to settle this in my own head I could do it but real research takes effort I don’t care to do.
In the past this nutso stuff (chupacabra, chem trails, gold fringed flags, etc) would get nuked by the mods after a while. Maybe the FR mods believe there’s a moon hoax too.
Personally I’m sick of these basement dwellers who insult the memories of the brave men who strapped themselves into those tin cans and rode the fire into space. The skeptics can all go f themselves.
