Stanley Kubrick is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Of his 13 movies a few are considered classics in their respective genres. Including the black comedy Dr. Strangelove, the highly-quoteable anti-war commentary of Full Metal Jacket, and one of the most disturbing horror films of all time, The Shining.
But in 1968, Kubrick released "2001 - A Space Odyssey". This is more than a classic. It's a masterpiece. And widely regarded as one of the best science-fiction films of all time, and probably the most influential.
This collaboration with science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke tells the story of an alien intelligence that visited Earth in the distant past, and left behind artifacts in the solar system.
The movie (2001 - A Space Odyssey) features ground breaking special effects, which still hold up today.
In fact, the effects looked so good that the movie gave the American Government an idea.
Billions of tax dollars were invested in the space program but the Soviets were still years ahead of the United States.
NASA desperately needed to get to the moon before Russia, but they knew it was impossible. So they turned to one of the World's Best Filmmakers for help. Because when it came to the moon: if they couldn't make it, they'd fake it!

“The reason we have never been back is the cost and a lack of political will.”
Well, and I’d argue the lack of any potential return on investment. If we’d found a mountain of gold, or an ocean full of oil, we’d probably be going back all the time.
Stanley Kubrick? The Stanley Kubrick that was left wing hater of The US government over the Vietnam War that was going on... a guy that would do anything the discretion the US and Nixon administration.. that Stanley Kubrick help the US pull of the biggest cover up in history????...
Yea right
I once made a mistake of trying to watch one of this guy’s videos. I had to turn it off because of that stupid animated talking fish. How can you take anything seriously that this guy says?
“everyone in the world, and for all time”
They didn’t need to fool everyone in the world for all time.
NASA just wanted to keep their budget going for a few years—so they planned for a short term deception of the American public.
The problem is once you start lying it is hard to stop—and then they have to plug leaks—one at a time.
Many/most people in the world today don’t believe the manned moon landing happened—it is just Americans who cling to the myths because the mass media brainwashing is constant and their egos are tied to this “national accomplishment”.
If you go to elementary school in China today they will tell you it was a myth—not sure about other countries.
There were plenty of leaks btw—and a bunch of dead bodies—of course we don’t want to talk about those because that would be “crazy conspiracy theories”.....

Valid argument
You should do a little reading on Polaris as “the North Star.”
It’s always been there for humans. But humans have only been here for a wink of the eye.
Look at the links—there is no way an astronaut would get on board with those fake computers.
He sang “Brown Eyed Girl”, IIRC ...
Considering some of my technology is currently being used by Blue Origin in their launch vehicles, and I had lunch with Jeff Ashby a few years ago while discussing this as well the fustercluck that is the SLS. I am not really sure where you are coming from.
How many launch vehicles and/or satellites have you designed ?
Not really sure where you are coming from.
You seem knowledgeable, and I’m genuinely curious, and not trolling. But, I have to ask, how did astronomy prove the earth was spinning?
“ Stop the name calling and start paying attention.”
No not paying attention to quackery .
Not paying attention to someone saying the sky isn’t blue, saying the sky doesn’t exist, birds aren’t real, Joe Biden is honest.
Not wasting bandwidth on quackery.
This crap reduces conservatives to stereotypical creatures.
People need to stop this dumbness.
Conservatives are smart and factual people.
Not nut jobs .
Shazzam! You’ve convinced me. I’m going to log off now.
I’m sorry, but that post is gibberish.
So, we have been navigating by them for at least 4000 years and at the speeds we are traveling there have been no differences in where they appear and move season after season? Ok.
How so?
Many people get hung up on technically sounding words and phrases and think they are geniuses for even knowing those words or phrases exist. Kind of like the people who argue religious topics poorly and think Latin makes their arguments sound important and technically superior.
“How did we get through the Van Allen Belts?”
We flew through them.
The video is supposed to refute Moon Landing Deniers, however it does the opposite. There are very good books and videos demonstrating evidence that we could not, and still cannot, get to the moon.
It seems to combine several topics indiscriminately, without actually conveying any meaning.
