My doctor told me to quit playing with my didgerdoo. I asked him why, would it make me go blind? He said no but it interfered with him completing his examination of me.

Anyone within earshot of a didgeridoo player is tempted to cure the player’s sleep apnea suddenly and permanently. Think vuvuzuela only far more annoying.

Jazz trumpeter Clark Terry displayed his circular breathing technique many years ago, during a concert. He was the guest soloist with our junior college jazz band. I proudly showed him my trumpet, which was the same exact model he happened to be playing at the time, a Selmer Radial 2.

He could keep playing forever with that circular breathing technique.
I tried practicing it, but could never get the hang of it.
BUT, I guess if it was easy, all brass and woodwind players would be doing it.

I've long suspected that sleep apnea was a problem for me. My doctor signed me up for the overnight at home equipment. There must be a long line as it took 60 days to get the monitor for an overnight test. I returned the equipment and it took another 2 weeks before the data was analyzed by a board certified sleep disorder MD. Moderate obstructive sleep apnea. The index value was 15 occurrences of breathing stopped for 30 to 45 seconds each hour. Having received the diagnosis, my doctor looked down my throat and said surgery would be of no benefit. My BMI is 20, so it's not an obesity issue. My sister has it too. Genetics and structure.

I have a referral for a CPAP device. It has been over a month. No device yet. Based on this article, it might be beneficial to break out my new fluegelhorn and develop some better muscle tone. I practiced 3 hours, 7 days a week from 4th grade to 10th grade...trumpet. I preferred the end seat 😊 . I left the band for a chemistry course I needed to attend UCSD. I have a practice chanter for bagpipes as well. It's all breath...no bag. That might help too.

I don’t think the wife would be all to happy me playing the didgeridoo in bed, way louder than my APAP!

Brandon Peters?! Make sure it’s not another one of Joe Bribem’s pseudonyms.
