‘I’m a showbiz prostitute who’s starred in over 600 movies – but you might not know who I am’

Eric Roberts is the most hardworking, famous actor in Hollywood who you might not have heard of… but you’ve definitely seen him.

That’s because he’s starred in approximately 667 movies and TV series – and has 77 upcoming (although that figure is sure to have changed by the time of publication).

You may know him as the older brother of Pretty Woman icon Julia Roberts and the dad of horror scream queen and rom-com darling Emma Roberts, but this is one accomplished actor who deserves to be known in his own right.

This year alone, Roberts, 67, has appeared in 40 projects – including 10 episodes of one show – and the golden rays of summer have not even faded.

Yeah I would think he IS fairly well known, he's been around forever! I usually like Roberts in whatever's he in even though a lot of them aren't all that good. I especially remember him in Runaway Train and The Pope of Greenwich Village. Not so sure about this suit though!

What are those beet-red pieces of sartorial crap he is wearing?

Looks like a GoodWill shopper.

The author of this article must be young. Everyone knows Eric - he’s been around a long time. God, he was hot when young.

Agreed. And he has held up over the years, unlike some.

You should say, “no offense to Goodwill shoppers.”

Think of Cousin Vinnie.

Hey, hey, back off on the Good Will shoppers.

When we were digging out from under an avalanche of medical debt, Good Will, Salvation Army, and second hand stores kept us in clothes for several years. I came from money so I knew what to look for in terms of cut, quality, and condition. Champagne taste on a beer pocketbook.

We got so proficient at bargain hunting that my family and I still go to them even though we are comfortable now.

I would often find gently used designer clothes, leather coats, jackets, and boots for pennies on the dollar. Isaac Mizrahi raincoat, originally $200, for $6. Coach sandals originally for $98, I snagged for $5. Gorgeous Naked Cashmere pullover, originally $295, for $12. My personal bests were a Silver Fox jacket with leather trim, retail about $600, for $40, a full length racoon coat, retail $4K, for $450 and a Prada bag (which still sells used for over $200) for $20.

That being said, I did laugh out loud at your comment because you have to dig through a ton of hideous, shabby clothes to find these gems.

That is an ill fitting, terrible colored suit 😀

Didn’t read the article
Don’t want to know the horribleness stories he may have about where he worked.

I love shopping at goodwill! I like expensive clothes, but can’t afford them, so Goodwill it is. If I were wealthy, I’d still shop there.

He doesn’t say anything negative about anything, he seems really humble and grateful, happy in his marriage, etc. I know, so unusual these days!

I bought a pair of nice flip-flops and liked them so much I wanted to get another pair. $78 for them new!!!

After years of buying jeans at thrift shops, paying full price for new is really tough, buy I did break down and buy a pair of really cute jeans that fit just right.... and then I washed them.

Never again!!!!! Thrift shop jeans are a great price and pre-shrunk!

Crazy, right? Luckily other people dress him for the movies he is in—and he looks good, very suave!

If you really want some amazing bargains, buy your jewelry from the pawn shop.

I grew up in NY and had friends in the Diamond district. When I moved my Texas, I lost my connections to great jewelry at discounted prices.

The mark-up on jewelry is 400% or more over the rating of the stones and the weight/purity of the metal.

24K gold is worth more. Mixed metals are worth less. Gold overlay is trash.

A 1 carat clear diamond with a high brilliance and no eye-inclusions is worth more than a carat worth of diamond chips. My mother always favored a large signature piece over 5 smaller pieces. I gave my husband that advice. He foregoes buying lots of little things throughout the year so Momma can get bling at Christmas.

The mark-up at the pawn shop is usually only 100 to 200%. Even then, you can haggle. Sitting in the case is not making them money.

Go shopping during the summer (after Mother’s day to October). Deals and steals and lay away.

Pawn shops are also great places for guns, bikes, and musical instruments. Avoid the handbags, though. They don’t know how to price them properly and pay too much to the seller for a beat up name brand. Yuck!

For “blow away the competition” handbags, get on the Dillard’s or Macy’s sales list. Forget Coach, Michael Koors, etc. The bag to have that will look amazing even with two years of constant, everyday use is Brahmin. I buy nothing but Brahmins; they look new for years, are waterproof, clean easily, and don’t lose their shape. The almond color goes with everything.

If you get on the secret sale list, you can snag a $400 bag for $235. They are also not prone to being forged (still, it’s better to buy new and register it; they will fix for free -although I’ve never had to use that service).

It’s the middle class equivalent to an Hermes bag. Women who buy Brahmins acknowledge other women who buy Brahmins.

Happy treasure hunting!
