The American Medical Association (AMA) has suggested that taxpayers should subsidize uterus transplants worth up to $300,000 to help transgender women get pregnant.
Arguments were made to reduce the cost of the surgery in its Journal of Ethics issue in June titled Patient-Centered Transgender Surgical Care.
But the AMA has been criticized for floating the idea and has been accused of holding an 'activist position'.
It argued that trans women's inability to bear children may cause them to experience 'psychological dissonance' which undermines their health and well-being.
It comes as doctors pioneering uterus transplants believe they are on the verge of allowing transgender women to give birth to their own children.
The AMA says trans women who want to give birth can 'plausibly justify' the subsidy of uterus transplants which cost up to $300,000.
'Transwomen lack a trait (the ability to bear children) that may cause them to experience psychological dissonance in a way that undermines their health and well-being,' Timothy F. Murphy and Kelsey Mumford wrote in the Journal of Ethics.
'The lack of a uterus also closes off the prospect of gestating a child in a way that is available to women as a class.
'It follows that lack of a uterus is an obstacle to full participation in the social goods attached to women’s identity.'
Dr. Marty Makary criticized the medical association and questioned why it was not using its resources to research complications surrounding gender-affirming treatment.
'It is odd that the AMA is choosing to really focus on this activist position rather than fund the important research we need in transgender medicine,' he told Fox's Fox & Friends on Wednesday.
'What's the regret rate after transition surgery? What's the long term complication rate of hormones?

The psychological dissonance is that a person having "XY" chromosomes is pretending to be a person with "XX" chromosomes.
The mental illness is not an excuse to start butchering "XX" children so that the delusional "XY" person can steal the womb from a girl. Because you KNOW that this is heading in that direction.
Okay, if they can spend $300,000 to do uterus transplants for freaks, then I should be entitled to the $500,000 plastic surgery that would be required to make me look like Brad Pitt...
This cannot be the reality of things. I must have become insane and conjured this bizarre world.
Even if somehow it’s medically possible to do these surgeries,,how is it a good use of medical resources?
The medical community is a cult
FU, AMA
Experimenting on babies is no barrier to the AMerican Medical Association. The hormones being taken by trans ‘women’ are bad enough, but the male immune system would have to be suppressed to stop it from viewing a uterus as a tumor or other pathogen.
These males taking female hormones would poison their baby one way or another and will at the least need cesarian sections, also paid for by the taxpayer.
If they want such a ridiculous thing they should pay for it themselves
Unlike most sci-fi movies made in or around 1960, this one did not have a happy ending. Surprisingly, no tranny behavior in that version of the future, but the rest of the movie seemed as far-fetched as the reality we live in today.
I wonder how history books 200 years from now will describe what has been going on in this country for the last 20 years or so.
Uh, no - more like this should be illegal. This is Frankenstein stuff.
They want to divert money from treating people with serious illnesses like cancer to instead waste it on purely elective surgeries to turn people into chimeras.
These people are sick and disgusting.
Cha-ching! And that’s the motivation behind all of this demonic butchery.
They can donate $300,000 out of their pockets, and then they can play like they are Gods on their own money.
You know the first one to get pregnant is also going to want a free abortion- so they can feel like a ‘real’ woman.
You would think that is too disgusting to be true, but you would be wrong.
Love,

Funny, I never read that in my journal of ethics and I have read it several times through and frequently go back to read specific verses.
The AMA is beyond redemption. These doctors are not one bit better than the Nazi Mengele.
You should be a little more greedy. I’m holding out for a full body transplant.
No, you’re dreaming. And when you wake up, Eisenhower is president and Doris Day is the role model of American girls. Women and men honor the institution of marriage and children pray in school.
I hope you’re right. I much prefer your version of the world.
That’s the version I grew up in. An America full of hard men who just won a war. A world where lawlessness was dealt with, without hesitation. Then came the 60s and the hippies. Things changed once those losers started moving into politics and teaching.
