Why not DeSantis? (Vanity)
08/16/2023 | Me, me, me

I could vote for the man, not over Trump or some others.

(But definitely over Christie, Hutchinson, Pence, Haley, Hurd, Scott)

Fill me in...Why is he fading? Personality? Policy positions? Political skills? All the above?

Yes he could be on a bill if they’re still around in the next few years.

Are you kidding? We'll be using 50 dollar bills to buy a cup of coffee.

“...and regroup for 2028”

Ditto. His goal from the beginning should have been 2028 not 2024. He may be damaged goods now and will fade from the scene as Scott Walker did.

He is fading because he is getting furiously attacked by the left because he is perceived as the biggest threat, and he is being furiously attacked by the Trump right because he is perceived as the biggest threat. He is absorbing a majority of the negative ad dollars right now and it is taking its toll.

Simple. it’s 100% because of who gives his money. If Abraham Lincoln received the money from the same individuals that sends it to Ron, I would be very skeptical of him as well.

You should be. Lincoln was a corporate railroad lawyer and he was heavily backed by the financial/industrial titans of the North, who are effectively the "elite" in modern parlance.

And the more I learn about Lincoln, the more I realize how shady he was.

The smartest strategic move for DeSantis would be to withdraw, endorse DJT, and regroup for 2028.

Yes. For 2020, "the only winning move is not to play."

That includes ditching Karl Rove, the Bushes, and Paul Ryan.

Karl Rove is advising him? Now I *KNOW* I don't want him... at least until he gets rid of that stupid bastard Rove.

I hear there’s a town in Alaska that elected a cat mayor for 10 years. We could try that if your other 3 choices don’t pan out. People love cats. Fully 50% of all internet traffic is cat-related. Putting a cat on the ticket could be what brings the country back together.

People want celebrities and BS/fast talkers now, who make politics “fun”

********

Yes, Yes.....Our political system has been rigged since 1789, at latest the 1890’s, so please can we have some:

“Fun”

Who is the fun candidate that gets ratings?

Hint: It isn’t Brandon or DeSantos.

Yup, he jumped in bed with the establishment GOP, which I do not support. They are better than Dems, but not by much.

Because of the most savage, unhinged, psychopathic smear campaign ever waged... and it’s by someone that other conservatives treat as if his covfefe was the very Word of God.

Too bad Trump doesn’t save any credibility for his Democratic opponents.

at least one guy will give us some entertainment while he fights our common enemy.

Glad you're admitting it, so kudos for your honesty.

I had never even thought of it until I saw Greg Kelly on Newsmax talk about it in detail one night. He basically flat out said, Trump may be getting crushed by the left, every day and night, but at least it's fun watching him fight back. That it's great entertainment, watching a wise guy smart off, no matter what happens in the end.

I can honestly say, that is the exact opposite of how I feel about things, but after thinking about it, I guess it's true for some people. It's no different than going down to the bar and cheering on your team, even though they're getting smoked by their biggest rival. At least they made it fun to watch, and you can smart off to the opposing fans there, because you really, really like your team.

That’s funny. Trump is getting indicted with fake charges, his lawyers are being charged so that they have to drop out, the MSM misses no chance to attack Trump but DeSantis is being furiously attacked./s
That is ludicrous. DeSantis has gotten a few gibes but not enough people take hime seriously enough to bother attacking. DeSantis is out of his depth. Peter principle example. He also is focused on his own career & opportunities not on America & the American people.

Why not? 1) He’s completely in bed with the donors of the GOP and Republican establishment 2) He’s got the charisma of potted plant and horrible political instincts.

Fair enough. I’m in a deep blue State. I’ll write in DJT, regardless.

You are absolutely right, but that won’t happen. DeSantis will not abandon his base

So, we have someone else voting for “Trump just makes it all fun” as one of the main reasons they support him, so I’m re-ordering the list, to move that one up.

Better? Or maybe it makes it to the top by the end of the night?

1+. Sympathy to Trump being indicted countless times now

2. People want celebrities and BS/fast talkers now, who make politics “fun”

3. Smeared by Trump supporters as a RINO

His base...what is it 8% now? Could he even win in Florida as a Presidential candidate?

A poll found that Florida Republicans strongly favor former President Trump over their governor, Ron DeSantis, in a hypothetical 2024 presidential primary contest.

The new Florida Atlantic University Mainstreet PolCom Lab poll showed that Trump held a 20-point lead over DeSantis among registered GOP voters when asked whom they would support if the 2024 primary were held today. Half said Trump, while 30 percent said DeSantis and 7 percent said they were undecided.

All established reports are that Rove has only ever worked for Trump, not DeSantis.

“Aligning with the GOPe was very disappointing to me.”

That is an interesting comment.

May we see your data where other GOPe governors have removed Soros-type district attorneys, told Disney “no”, and transformed their purple states into deep red?
