What exactly is Putin's "ideology" that is such a threat to the West? Nationalism? Anti-globalist LGBTQ politics? The promotion of traditional Russian culture? Russian economic self-interest? Protection of Russian Borders? Christianity?

Stop it! Before you know it, the Forever War zealots might actually think about it and blow their own tiny minds.

I don’t want to call the ISS a waste of money, but our part of it could have been used to establish a permanent location on the moon. We could have possibly have harnessed the hydrogen 3 that is just laying on the surface to spring board us to Mars.

What you said.

The propaganda never stops. Keep the hate flowing... I’m beginning to think that Russia is almost as great as climate change in that there is nothing it can’t do or harm.

You would think that after years (decades?) of Russia, Russia, Russia some people would have caught on by now.

That’s stupid.

Seek detente, NOT confrontation.

What exactly is Putin's "ideology" that is such a threat to the West?

Putin's throttling of democracy and dissent in Russia. Putin's aggression and imperialism.

Russia has put forward a highly contentious list of security guarantees it says it wants the west to agree to in order to lower tensions in Europe and defuse the crisis over Ukraine, including many elements that have already been ruled out.

The demands include a ban on Ukraine entering Nato and a limit to the deployment of troops and weapons to Nato’s eastern flank, in effect returning Nato forces to where they were stationed in 1997, before an eastward expansion.

The demands, spelled out by Moscow in full for the first time, were handed over to the US this week. They include a demand that Nato remove any troops or weapons deployed to countries that entered the alliance after 1997, which would include much of eastern Europe, including Poland, the former Soviet countries of Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and the Balkan countries.

All of the above.

Here's a novel idea, how about being for "All of the above" like the government in Poland, and NOT INVADING NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES FOR LAND ANNEXATION LIKE PUTIN?

Well, SOMEBODY had to pay for it all...</s> It’s not like the rest of the world ever ponies up cash for these things.

“What exactly is Putin’s “ideology” that is such a threat to the West?”

Oh, he’s a threat to the west because of the problems he can create. But there are real and also perceived ones. And you are presenting some real facts in your entry. But it’s the perceived ones that are the most dangerous. And our chicken little government is running for cover screaming about the sky.

The Russian way of life has been ostracized by the US since long before Putin. The Russians are a foil, not a country trying to survive in what they believe.

An example is the last two major elections have been riddled with blaming Russia on interfering. The US did the same thing to them only our actions were righteous. And it’s all Putin’s fault. And even the foil is fictitious.

It is all in an effort to cover the antics of China whose way of life is now forced to bleed the countries of the world to survive. And our government is helping them do it to us. So Russia is the curtain over that. And anything they do is going to be microscoped into wrongs that are so immense they can be used to cover the Chinese efforts. And the US government is playing the voters to not see it. If one looks, it’s obvious. But the one is not supposed to look...just be told.

"The Russian way of life" is having a higher abortion and alcoholic rate than in the US, with a lower church attendance rate than in the US.

Soviets destroyed religion and the family in Russia and it never recovered.

Soviets destroyed religion and the family in Russia and it never recovered.

And yet under Communism, Catholicism flourished in Poland, so is that a viable excuse?

Nailed it. That’s the question that repels neocons like kryptonite. I think the Putinphobia is just envy because deep down we know we’re never going back to an America where a majority embrace traditional values and where government represents people. We are in a woke death spiral and Russia isn’t. The vast majority of Russians are immune to the west’s woke mind viruses that are corrupting every institution here. Yes that stings.
