Blocking traffic, attacking the mailman, even chasing little kids headed to the park -- a flock of turkeys is getting a bad rap in a city neighborhood. KDKA-TV's Meghan Schiller has more from the neighborhood.

Commie turkeys?
Thanksgiving is just around the corner.... just sayin!
Self defense.
My son-in-law was attacked by a Tom turkey when working on his car.
They had a pair of wild turkeys, tom and hen, that just showed up one day and stayed at their house. Stayed there for several months like domestic turkeys.
Then one day he was working on his car, bent down for something and the Tom spurred him in the back.
He immediately went in the house, got his gun and shot the turkey!...................
Spokeshave who lived for a while in a rural area swapped a goat for 4 turkeys...the Tom was very aggressive and went to pot early.
Transporting the goat through towns caused a sensation at the gas station what with the goat ๐ standing up on the truck bed.....on the return with turkey birds ๐ฆ in cages....seems city folk never seen a live turkey...only a big chicken in a plastic bag. ๐

We have a mating pair here in my south shore neighborhood. I chase and harass them whenever I see them. They fly up onto someones roof around me. The hospital parking lot at Staten Island North is particularly bad. Damn city folk wont let Parks kill them, and wildlife management won’t relocate since they are partially domesticated breeds. I guess we will just need to wait until enough of the crazies on the road around here run them over?
Wild turkeys do not taste that great. Their legs are full of tendons. The breast meat is about half the size of a regular domesticated turkey.
There are so many here in NH that they are a tremendous pain in the A$$.
The only good thing they do is eat a lot of ticks and other insects.
When I am mowing the lawn on my John Deere rider I have gotten with in fifteen feet of them before they moved. They are not afraid of me at all.
The other animal that has come back in huge numbers is the cottontail rabbit. Five years ago they were very scarce. Now , they are everywhere. They are so many in southeastern NH that people have to cover their flower beds with mesh to keep the rabbits from eating everything.
Disagree about the taste- we had 2 for Thanksgiving once and they tasted great we thought. Yep, they were pretty lean and kinda touch, but delicious.
Rabbits are kinda scarce where we are. Locals used to hunt them with dogs, but not so much anymore. I understand rabbits now carry some kind of deadly parasite or disease or somehting?
Dang, “kinda tough” i meant
Thanksgiving is coming up.
Make it open season and no bag limit.
There was a guy I knew when I lived in Alabama.
He found a baby turkey that was abandoned. He took it home and raised it. Turns out it was a boy.
When grown the turkey would guard the house and would not let people approach unless his owner came outside and told him to go back to the turkey pen.
This is a true story.
Turkeys and guineas make very goo watchdogs......................
We had several flocks of turkeys the last few years, and this year almost nothing.
We saw two twice on our property. The other times they would cruise around the house in the yard feeding on whatever. IT would be one tom with about 18-19 hens.
We have seen virtually no rabbits and even squirrels are scarce. But we do have lots of owls around and some hawks I believe. On rare occasion, we see an eagle circling but I don’t know that it has ever hunted on our property.
They seem to have a problem in the greater Pittsburgh area with aggressive wild turkeys. In this article, itโs Whitehall, a borough just south of Pittsburgh.
