Vanity: What is the one thing that will keep Trump or the GOP from regaining POTUS? Abortion.

It is becoming obvious to 'me' that abortion is the one thing that is making elections these days. I think this wedge issue may in fact be the one issue that will keep Trump or the GOP nominee out of office.

Is there enough support on the right to bend one the issue?

The GOP will never win with a strict anti-abortion position.

so what your advocating is choice for EXPECTANT mothers. What about EXPECTANT fathers? Should they be given a choice as to whether or not the death penalty should be given to execute his innocent child?

Are you OK with the blood of innocents on your hands?

Is victory worth it if we win by advocating THEIR issues?

It is possible to support overturning Roe AND trusting the states will promote the will of their citizens.

Yes!!! Exactly! It's both the right call and the winning move. Roe was justly overturned, not because every single supporter of it was a liar (which is the case), but because we are a nation of laws, and Roe was absurdly, explicitly, black-and-white unconstitutional.

Abortion is not mentioned in the Constitution. Therefore, like laws against other forms of murder, the matter is left "to the States, respectively, or to the People."

That Federalist position, besides being correct legally, is the only possible game-winner nationally. Most conservatives would not vote for a pro-abort of either party. Most Democrats--except for Hispanic and rural Democrats--would, so to speak, rather die than vote for a pro-life candidate.

The rightful position any Federal candidate should take is that abortion laws, like laws against robbery or double-parking or the murder of an adult, are a matter for the States. And if you don't like your state's laws--whatever they are--on this or any other matter, campaign to change them. It's your right. But it's not the job of Uncle Sam to tell the whole country what to think about everything. He's only allowed to decide on the matters given to him by the States who came together and created America.

Go back to Dem Underground.

Too many Freepers are one issue based - abortion. Leave it to the states, as the Supreme Court has done. Let's move on to other issues before we have no seats.

So you believe that people should legally be able to murder their baby?

It's not up to me. It is up to the citizens in the state that they live in. If most of them are pro-choice, then that's what they want.

Why do we want to have political power in what is effectively a uni-party stated filled with Satanist voters?

You can judge a society by how it treats its weakest members, and God will.

Shouldn’t they just be happy addressing the issue in the states in which they live? It’s NOT a federal issue now.

The Democrats are demagogues. They make it sound like the Republicans are banning abortion EVERYWHERE.

“It’s NOT a federal issue now.”

It is an issue between the woman/man God and the Dr. Should be completely off any government book, state or federal.

I refuse to vote for any candidate who won’t actively work toward greater restrictions on abortion. No more volunteering or money, either. Pro-lifers fought for 50 years to fix a terrible judicial fiat, and now we are finally learning who our real friends and enemies are. And we also won’t be tricked into voting for the lesser-of-two-evils anymore. We are the Republican base, good luck without us.

‘I fear our country will be damned by God if we get this one wrong.’

since abortion has always been practised, and in fact has been visibly commonplace for the past half century; what makes you think that God gives a farthing about it...?

Just an observation, different people use different criteria, to judge the issue of abortion, and what should be done about it.

Everyone here thinks they are correct, morally or legally, depending on which criteria they think are the most important.

God turns nations to believing lies, so that they can be damned. our nation was given over to lies over a long period of time... and now we are living in the second step of a two step new testament biblical formula...

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 King James Version (KJV)
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

we already have bought into the first half as a nation.
we are in the early stages of the second half.
Aversion of disaster is in the hands of God’s people... they have to humble themselves and pray, confessing and repenting of their wicked ways... so that God can heal our land. Judgemewnt MUST Begin at the household of God.
on an individual basis, God knows how to deliver his own, while reserving the wicked for destruction.

Its in the OT as a principle as well.

‘I don’t think the founding fathers prevented women from voting as such , so much as in that era , women didn’t have the same rights as men.’

in 1776, approximately 60 percent of whte men could vote; this was greatly expanded in the next decade, when property requirements were being dropped, and a few states extended the right to free black men, and NJ allowed property owning widows to vote...

The GOP picked up seats and a majority of votes in the midterm right after the Supreme Court. The candidates who won big signed abortion limitations in Ted and purple states. It’s all about running competent campaigns. Other than out right bans on abortion the majority of voters support late term restrictions and earlier. It comes down to being able to boldly articulate views. There is zero fees on that issue should sway national or congressional elections.
