At least two homes in Juneau, Alaska, have collapsed into a raging river after a glacial collapse triggered flooding and a state of emergency at the capital.
Harrowing video capture by local resident Sam Nolan shows the Mendenhall River eating away at the shoreline until an entire two-story home plunges into the water.
The TikTok video opens with the river taking out a tree near the shore, with the house barely visible behind all the trees and foliage on Saturday.
The video then speeds up to show the entire greenery slowly succumbing to the flooding river until the house is the only thing left standing at the edge before it, too, eventually crashes into the water.
A nearby, three-story building can be seen about to experience the same fate as its foundation begins to crumble shortly afterward.

Civilization exists with the permission of geology.
That would be the same Mendenhall Glacier that sits on an extinct forest...that it covered when it was advancing about 1,000 years ago.
“ That would be the same Mendenhall Glacier that sits on an extinct forest….”
I guess the earth was warmer then. Who knew?
50 yards away on soil that can easily be eroded, I can putt a golf ball 50 yards, that's pretty close unless you're on rock.
Watched some show years ago and they were way up north somewhere and were splitting shale looking for fossils. Split one down a seam and revealed a palm frond. A big one too not just a small piece. Palm trees in Alaska. This earth is unbelievably old.
Oh and I found out today. That drone footage was taken by my friend’s son. He works for the city and borough of Juneau.
