I forgot to say only the fridge is 12v only for this new standard. The water heater and furnace are still gas operated until the full switch to 12v comes in the near future, making the camper 100% dependent upon a commercial power hook-up at the campgrounds or solar in the remote areas. The lithium batteries will likely be with the full gas-ban standard.
You won’t need to get fire wood. Just wait for the lithium battery to light up.
Every day now I wake up to some new insanity. Maybe it’s better to keep sleeping.
Madness.
Government banning things people use every day is pure Insanity
So you die of carbon monoxide poisoning....................
where there's no solar.
A 120 volt fridge will function from a 12 v battery and an inverter.
That’s what I have used for years and years. I plug the camper in when 120 v power is available and use the battery /inverter when it is not.
It is pointless to buy a camper under California laws, which is the point. Nobody buying campers, means no road trips. 15 minute cities.
bttt
Does anyone have the guts to tell KKKalifornia to go fsck itself, and just make stuff for Americans?
Good Post ! Enjoyed you BIO as well ! Thanks-
As we continue to discuss ways around these BS laws, the government is 3-4 steps ahead thinking how to outlaw the ways around it——mass non-compliance is the only way to stop this BS.
Well the trailer won’t be going anywhere in a few years as your upcoming switch to an EV will mean you cannot tow it anywhere anyway. That will solve the electrical hook-up problem so you might as well save money on the gas conversion.
California gas ban is leading this. Manufacturers decided to follow their standard nationwide,
/\
As a Calif citizen,, I say..
All states need to
tell California to
” F-€# off !!! “
Since when are the state’s ruled by the Calif legislature ?
Raise holy hell with your representatives !!!
Tell them if you wanted to be ruled by California madmen you’d move there
And you don’t and won’t.
Grrrrr.
Thanks for sharing. The people making these decisions stay at a Jackson Hole type resort and have never been in an RV. I’ve never been in an RV, but understand the situation. I used to go on fly in fishing trips until about 10 years ago. Lighting was powered by solar, Refrigerators, stoves and hot water heaters were all powered by propane. Heat was provided a wood stove when necessary.
“the California gas ban is leading this. Manufacturers decided to follow their standard nationwide, thus go with solar/12v fridges only. “
This is how it will go. Ca is such a big market they can bully the entire country. The car makers will not make cars they can only sell in the red states they will make EV’s they can sell in all of the states. Trump talked about eliminating the special exemption they have but didn’t so now we are screwed.
“your best bet is to keep your gas operated RV or pay a bundle for a conversion to gas.”
Your best bet is to not go camping in California anymore. Deprive them of tourist dollars.
If you want a gas cooktop... Valve, Pipe, Drill.
Make it yourself.
If you want to get snazzy you’ll have to do some casting and or machining.
When I was growing up we had a two burner camp stove that looked like a spider. All cast iron and with valves that has porcelain handles, all black otherwise. I thought it was the coolest thing. Our camp trailer was a green box with the kitchen on back in one of those neat compartments where the lid expanded into cupboard. The stove was fixed in place with bent over nails on the feet.
bkmk
I noticed that a lot of the homeless living in rv’s had solar panels attached to their “homes”.
Would this be an option? Put a few on the roof?
