The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.

If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.

This thread is a non-political respite. No matter what, you won’t be flamed, and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.

It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go - and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.

NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!

I’ll float that idea past ‘The Chairman’ and see what he thinks. When I first moved here he told me I get ONE Sunday off a month, just like any other local Farm Hand.

And THAT Sunday had better be spent in Church, LOL!

Peach-A-Palooza continues! So far I have made Peach Salsa (peaches, tomatoes, peppers, spices) and it's pretty kick-@ss! That needs to be canned, today.

Peach Butter is all put up. 13 half-pints. That turned out great, too.

On the docket for later today is Peach Bourbon BBQ Sauce. Looking forward to fiddling with that recipe, for sure. ;) One neighbor came and picked end of day yesterday and took two CRATES off my hands. Another is coming by this morning to pick. I have a good 2 dozen on my kitchen counter. We should have them all picked/used by the weekend with some shared with the birds.

We are having a family picnic at our Lake Cabin Sunday - sort of a last minute thing. Mom got in the tomato patch a couple days ago & picked/gave away a lot & I did some canning. Hopefully, we’ll have some large tomatoes ripe enough to slice by Sunday. I scoured the cherry tomato vine and barely came up with enough for a 2 pint batch of pickled cherry tomatoes.

The recipe I am using has fresh rosemary sprigs - I cut them out of the herb garden and they smell heavenly. Add fresh garlic & some new peppercorns (had to buy some for this recipe) .... not sure I can wait 2 days to try them! They will barely be infused long enough by picnic time, but I think they’ll be really good. :-)
