Two in three Americans (67%) said they could live on sandwiches alone for a full week, according to new research.
The perfect sandwich, according to a survey of 2,000 Americans, consists of tomato (54%), cheddar cheese (39%) and Black Forest ham (39%). The survey also found that the average American craves a sandwich four times a week.
It seems that the best solution for your tastebuds and your wallet is a sandwich as 42% polled said they are actively looking for ways to cut down the cost of food, with sandwiches being a good money-saving option for 67% of respondents, according to a survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Buddig. For favorite ingredients, barbecue sauce, mayonnaise and honey mustard topped the list, all at 58%. The least favorite was ranch (26%).

At the top of my list is the classic cheesesteak!
Use real meat, shaved ribeye is best. Have your butcher slice it at a #1 setting and use within a couple of days. Use sliced yellow onions, start them first on a griddle or cast iron skillet, go low and slow till they are well caramelized and push them over to the warm side of the grill. Green peppers and mushrooms belong on a steak sandwich, not a cheesesteak! Cook your steak on sear setting, resist the urge to mix it up or flip it too soon. You want the meat to brown before you flip it and use your spatula and scraper to chop the meat into bite size pieces. Mix with the onions and cover with cheese. If you are using cheese wiz there is no need to add it to the meat on the griddle. Most places in Philly dip the round end of a wooden spoon into the cheese sauce and drag it across the finished sandwich. The best cheese for cheesesteaks is Cooper Sharp, although folks up in Jersey swear by provolone. Melt it under the steam dome with a dash of pickle juice and scoop into a hinge cut Amoroso roll. Top with a few banana peppers.
Believe it or not, Wal-Mart bakery makes a nicely textured sourdough bread. Not particularly tangy, though.
Mayo is okay for egg or tuna fish sandwiches. It does not belong near meat.
Didja “gut the roll” to make room for the food? 😁
Yup.
Dave’s Killer, my absolute favorite.
Depends on the meat. I live Boars Head beef or pork and beef bologna sliced a little thick with American cheese.
Well, bread is cheaper than meat.
Same out of a convenience store.
As a poor college kid I’d eat mustard sandwiches IF I had bread.
What is a woman? /ducking/
Is tuna salad between your legs?
Yessir...thin thin thin onions, too.
I liked it before I saw they added sugar.
“BBQ sauce? Maybe on pulled pork or a cuban.”
Never on a Cuban!
I think Panera has that same model.
Bacon.
Lots of it.

Yowza...none better, imho.
