A recent YouGov poll asked Americans whether they believe in 30 good- and bad-luck superstitions, ranging from four-leaf clovers and wishbones to broken mirrors and Friday the 13th. People were, on average, more likely to believe in superstitions thought to bring good luck than they were to believe in ones thought to bring bad luck.
The three good-luck superstitions polled that the largest share of Americans say they believe in are making a wish while blowing out birthday candles (28%), seeing a shooting star (28%), and saying bless you when someone sneezes (27%). The three bad-luck superstitions believed by the greatest share of people include walking under a ladder (21%), broken mirrors (21%), and the number 666 (21%).
In addition, we find that 12% of Americans say they always or frequently carry or wear a lucky charm. Another 19% say they occasionally or rarely do this, and 64% say they never do.
Our survey also asked a broader question about whether there is anything people consider themselves superstitious about. Below, we display the share of different groups of Americans who answered yes to this question:

I pick-up a penny whether it’s heads up or tails up. As far as I’m concerned, it’s one less penny I’m in debt.
“When I see a UFO, I always think its a government plot.”
UFO aliens are the same. They want to meet us but are deathly fearful they may run into a government official.
“A thinly veiled anti-Catholic hit piece by the liberal Jewish lead author of the study”.
I actually thought that but then I thought if I typed it out loud...
You don’t like your Federal Reserve Notes?
I am sure the cats hide the shards and bring them out when they see my shamefully naked tootsies.
If I had to guess who among us were the most superstitious, I'd say most athletes and most, if not all, folks who believe in astrology.
I will pick up any coins I see on the ground. I save them up in a jar and at the end of the month, cash them in on groceries. I used to be able to pay for my weeks worth with that. Now not so much.
Of all the catagories the didn’t mention baseball or poker players.
I used to do the same, except I applied the change to my mortgage every time I came up with an extra $50.00.
Not walking under a ladder is just common sense.
Step on a crack, break your mamas back.
Superstitions Americans believe:
1. The police will protect you from criminals.
2. Police never lie.
3. Vaccines are all safe and effective.
4. Electric cars are better for the environment than gas powered cars.
They do stuff like that. Cats are jerks.
I really don’t want to be associated with Hillary Clinton or be a whitehouse chef... That said, I am kinda ready to have it out with the demons that are protecting child predators and compromising folks with Satanic Rituals... Kinda time to just roll... Why are guys like Andrew McCabe and Bill Barr wiling to protect pedophile satan worshipers... Do you guys have a soul, or are you dead inside. What do those two think God is going to say to them when their time on earth is over? And what is driving Lisa Monico? Is there anyone currently working in our Government who actually loves their fellow man. Anyone?
"It's very bad to drink Jobu's rum."
These “superstitions” are just folkways. People don’t “believe” in them. They go through the motions because the folkways provide a way of interacting with people. What’s birthday without a cake, candles, and a wish?
Nope, it's debt, not money.
