I happen to fit the demo of the least superstitious, and I'm not at all superstitious. I can associate the number 13 with many positives in my long life, I've broken a few mirrors, and several other things. I'm still here and doing just fine.
If I had to guess who among us were the most superstitious, I'd say most athletes and most, if not all, folks who believe in astrology.

I will pick up any coins I see on the ground. I save them up in a jar and at the end of the month, cash them in on groceries. I used to be able to pay for my weeks worth with that. Now not so much.

1. The police will protect you from criminals.
2. Police never lie.
3. Vaccines are all safe and effective.
4. Electric cars are better for the environment than gas powered cars.

These “superstitions” are just folkways. People don’t “believe” in them. They go through the motions because the folkways provide a way of interacting with people. What’s birthday without a cake, candles, and a wish?
