Why wasn't DeSantis fighting this in Congress? I do not remember him saying anything at the time, or even when Trump made the statement we are discussing.
Everyone say things they regret later when they actually learn more about the topic. Trump is now on the right side of the issue, so I am satisfied.
In the meantime, DeSantis has remained silent on the issue of human trafficking. Being silent is even worse in my opinion thatn misspeaking.

Trump is far too busy with real policy in his platform to have ever been concerned about making transgenders accepted in sports. That is a loser’s issue. YAWN.

Except that this was a beauty contest, not a sport’s competition. But aside from that, Trump didn’t “inject” anything. The LBTQXYZ radicals have been trying to push the envelope on this sort of thing for years. Trump didn’t deliberately set out to put men into the Miss Universe pageant or advocate for doing so.
He was a businessman at the time and this guy tried to enter his pageant. I believe he was making threats to sue if he was barred from entering the contest, but I’m not sure. At any rate, Trump ultimately allowed him to enter the pageant. He didn’t fight it out, and I wish he had, but that’s a far cry from being an advocate of such things. And Trump was still 10 years away from being a politician. Trump was a businessman at the time and made a business decision, not a policy decision.

Ever heard the saying when in Rome do as the Romans do? That saying was born out of safety. because if you didn’t do as Roman law dictated, you would regret it.
The real story isn’t what Trump said decades ago or 7 years ago.
The real story is the desperation on the part of the DeSantis campaign, staffers, here and now, sitting in their little meetings, trying to stick their finger in the wind to see which way their candidate should go, and choosing this issue as something to go with.
I dislike the Transsexual thing more than anyone, but this is the issue the DeSantis campaign chooses to attack on?
People held as political prisoners for years, weaponization of the government, tens of millions of dollars in bribes paid to the President and his family from foreign sources, the President himself is an actual foreign agent, we are on the brink of being dragged into a nuclear war, China preparing to invade Taiwan, the economy crumbling, law and order disintegrating, the election process is completely corrupted and broken, and this is what the DeSantis campaign thinks he should open his pie-hole about.
I initially liked DeSantis even though he wasn’t my first choice, but with each passing day, I find him less and less impressive. And far less inspiring.
Trump was less conservative socially (and this was well known long before he ran for office) than many real conservatives like, but given what else he brings to the table, we are willing to take some BS like this and put it in the correct context, which is minor in comparison, even with the obvious cultural damage it is causing.
If we don’t get a handle on all of that other stuff, this transsexual crap is going to be absolutely the least of our problems. And DeSantis is showing me he is just going to be more of the same thing we see in Washington DC.
Trump is the one late to the party.
DeSantis was attacking woke since he became governor in 2019.

I would not disagree with that. In fact, I could make an extensive list of dumb or inappropriate things Trump has said.
My point is that we are past such concerns. It’s not a Trump 51%, DeSantis 49% primary race. It’s going to be Trump, period. So it’s now an all-hands-on-deck moment. We’ve got to push that very imperfect guy across the finish line.
