I am trying to get PublicSq (Public square) on my phone.
I went to the website to download it-It went to Google play store, but then it said my device is not compatible with it?
Has anyone else had this problem?
how do you explain google blocking truth social for months for being on the app store??
“how do you explain google blocking truth social for months for being on the app store??”
We have discussed this before when that was an issue, This was Truth social’s own fault and it was not an issue they could not have cured right away.
There was absolutely no reason why they could not have built their own app and served the download from a simple one page accompanying website they also own instead of the Google app store.
“Hello! welcome the the Truth Social download webpage!”
“Click here to download and install”
A client app is a client app. No permission needed to make up and serve your own. What they did and how they did it was ignorant and unnecessary.
Here is an example of a device client similar to truth social. Download served up from a simple webpage of their own without Google or Apple.
There is absolutely no reason TS could not have done the very same thing...
you talk in circles. They DID create their own avenue for access because they were being blocked. they should have NEVER been blocked but they were. quit being an apologist for the leftist tech industry.
“They DID create their own avenue for access because they were being blocked.”
Yes, absolutely, they FINALLY DID. They should have done it on day one as soon as Goggle coughed at them. There was no reason to fight with Google at all about it. They should have just bypassed them immediately.
That is my point. They messed around for weeks before they finally just served it up themselves.
“quit being an apologist for the leftist tech industry.”
What? Where did you get that? I am claiming EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE. The point I am making is it can absolutely be done WITHOUT the 3rd party leftist control!
They should have just done that right away...
wow so now you’re completely changing your story and admitting that Google WAS stymieing them.
keep it straight; you’re all over the place
Or do the same using the browser on your phone.
Yep. I think the OP is good to go now.
The thread went off the rails…
When it comes to apps, it can make a huge difference what version OS you’re using. Just as some websites won’t run on an older browser.
I take it from your answer that your OS is not current?
You either can’t read or you are dodging my wel made point. You are trying to pull the 180 spin just like the leftists you claim to dislike. Apparently you have learned from them well.
“When it comes to apps, it can make a huge difference what version OS you’re using. Just as some websites won’t run on an older browser.

My OS is just fine, my point is... Any and all website and app parameters can be set to accommodate any and all OS and browser versions. There is no reason for apps and sites to make you jump through hoops to use them.
They do this on purpose and as a developer it upsets me because it is unnecessary. I always make sure to accommodate everything on the sites I build.
Last thing I want is for it to be a big hassle and chore to come traffic my site or app. It should be made as easy as possible for the users. The users are the priority...
“Your phone may be too out of date for the app to run.”
Maybe pajamajan can update the operating system.
I had to do that with a phone I got (and it was a new phone, but maybe last year’s model or something like that) in order to download Candy Crush.
Yes, I play Candy Crush and I heart it! No judging please!
I guess you don’t know as much as you think you do. Go to the https://publicsq.com/ website and there is a link to both the Apple App Store and the Google Play store.
The OP most likely has an out-of-date OS.
As a developer, you should know that OSs are constantly being patched for security issues, which is especially important for apps that deal with commerce.
My last Android based phone failed on one of the OS updates and that update was a prerequisite for any further updates. Pretty soon I was 5 versions behind and no current apps would work with the outdated version of Android. It was a cheap prepaid phone so there was no such thing as support.
Maybe 1% of phone users can do all the things you can, side load apps, make any app version work with any OS version etc, but telling the other 99% how stupid they are for not being able to do the same is no help.
If you can do something on a PC, why would you use the data collecting cell phone?
A cell phone is a computer with a phone ap
https://github.com/qTox/qTox/blob/master/INSTALL.md
That’s not a phone app. It’s mainly for Linux but you can “cross compile” for Windows. Again, 1% of people might know how to do something like that.
For 99% of cell phone users, if it’s not in the Apple store of Google Play store, it’s not something they can do. You can stick an apk on a website for people to download but it doesn’t help the average person.
I’ve built WordPress website for FReepers and they could barely log in to it. Publishing a blog post was too mind blowing for most. Again, that’s 99% of people in general.
“telling the other 99% how stupid they are for not being able to do the same is no help.”
I didn’t my friend. Please read from my first post here and all replies in sequence and context including twisting of what I said and my just defense against it.
My point was, that too many sources purposely make it complicated and proprietary to take advantage of folks and force them to buy new software and/or devices. It is an age old con marketing tactic designed by MS and providers of software for MS.
There is absolutely no reason these business entities including platforms cannot make it easier, respect their customers, and not break old stuff or depreciate them on purpose. No reason why they cannot just correctly update an older OS rather than force people to upgrade OS, buy new software, or be forced to buy a new device.
There is no reason why every app and webscript cannot accommodate all OS versions and/or devices. They do not accommodate these on purpose as part of the scam. Just like printer devices not allowing you to use them with Linux as an example. Why not? Because MS is paying them not to allow it. Scam...
It is a scam... And if more would just say no and refuse to accept the scam they would quit pulling this scam.
