A former award-winning teacher has been sentenced to jail over a sexual assault of a student more than a decade ago.
Leah Ruthann Queen, 44, pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a student. Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren sentenced Queen to six years of state-supervised probation and 58 days in the Benton County Jail. She was also ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
Queen was a teacher at the Gentry Intermediate School in Arkansas.

Happened more than a decade ago? Must not be a statute of limitations for this crime. Oh, and guilty.

Well, for one thing, there are a lot more public screwls than private.
One thing high school football parents, and fans (in our neighborhood back in IL), were disgusted about was the private schools ability to recruit players. Yet the private schools were allowed to play public schools in the playoffs. It was unfair to the public screwl kids. But make a fuss to the IHSA, and the ‘bigot card’ was immediately played.

Combined with that language and the butch look of the teacher, the molested student was probably a girl.

Assault!
Feel like the age of consent for guys should be lowered. I mean it’s not great that she’s cheating on her spouse with someone less than half her age, but does anyone seriously think that the “child” in this scenario, at age 17, is a victim? OTOH, if it were a male teacher and a male student that might suddenly be a different matter.
Yikes, based on that picture this may be one of the few cases where the victim actually was permanently damaged by the encounter.
That explains the harsh punishment, then.
