Good documentary.

what do the locals have to say? Knowing my relatives (they are still living in the area) they probably heard "Go Away" quite a bit.

Screw the poor in America. We need to give hundreds of billions more to foreign aid, Ukraine etc...

The Christian thing to do would be to append the headline to include the answer to the question it poses so the rest of us aren't obligated to sell our souls to G**gle to find out ...
... the answer is southern West Virginia.

Some yankee acting like he’s all that.

They’re mostly white MAGA, so who cares. These poor people, especially the working poor, benefited most under Trump.

These people are mostly ancestral Scots and Irish. They are GOOD people. And they do not deserve the bad deal they get from state ,local and federal governments. All they want is work. They detest the Dem plantation.
They did benefit under Trump and it is my fondest wish that they will so benefit once again.
Trumps mother was from the Isle of Lewis, a genuine Scot. There is a reason Trump makes sure to help them out via policy that brings an upswing in their economy.

I know that area well. We don’t need a yankee boo booing over us.

True enough. You don’t need it. But the yankees need to know what life is like in a “holler”. A lot of them have way over-the-top stereotypes. Like they think Pete’s Dragon is a documentary.

West Virginia voted 70% for President Trump. The same as Wyoming. The largest percentage of all the states.

I’m sure they’re far more happy than most of America.

That’s right, they’re Americans and MAGA Trump supporters. And the people in D.C. don’t give 2 s**ts about them or anyone else, you me, or anyone who opposes their American hating Marxist/globalist narrative.
Homeless by the tens of thousands are everywhere, right here at home, as these rotten dirty SOBs like Pence give what’s left of the American treasure away to corrupt foreign countries. It’s an epic disgrace. I can hardly tolerate this BS. It drives me crazy.

Yes, great documentary.
I can see those places coming back now that you can work remote. Beautiful country, cheap housing, traditional values...
A big developer could buy a big chunk of a town dirt cheap, cleaning thing up and turning things around... and making a bundle. Especially with some state and/or federal tax incentives.
Lots of people are getting sick and tired of living in big city hell holes.
