Southern California lifeguards said they spotted at least three juvenile great white sharks off the coast of Black’s Beach on Friday and are warning beachgoers to exercise caution in the area.
The San Diego-Fire-Rescue Department posted a photo to the agency’s Facebook page of a sign that was to be temporarily installed on the beach warning of the marine life.
According to the agency, the sharks were feeding on the carcass of a sea lion and were not exhibiting aggressive behavior.
There have been no other reported sightings of the sharks that were thought to the 6, 8 and 9 feet long.
According to the San Diego Tourism Authority, the area is famous for being one of the largest nude beaches in North America and is known for its giant swells.
Swimming is not generally recommended year-round due to rough surf conditions created by cliffs.
Locals said the powerful waves make the beach a destination for experienced surfers, especially during the winter.
The beach is less than five miles away from the site of California’s most recent shark attack, which happened in 2022.
In November, Lyn Jutronich told San Diego’s FOX5 she was finishing her weekly swim at Del Mar Beach when she was rammed by a shark that clamped down on her thigh.

Gotta watch out for that shrinkage.
I’ve seen that movie about 25 times and it still gives me the creeps. 😆
Youts
Trump or climate discombobulation?
Yum. Its like eating shrimp without the chewy shells
Everyone knows the best way to catch a big fish is to dangle a worm in front of them.
I don’t blame them. Clothing is difficult to digest.
Shark is hungry for hot dogs!
We visited Universal Studios about 30 years ago when our son was 3 years old. We were on the tram when the HUGE Jaws shark came out of the water, lunging at our tram. Our son was terrified. I mean shrieking uncontrollably, unconsolable terrified.
Of course, he also freaked out when the “Earthquake” hit on the earthquake ride at Universal and when the old-west robbers robbed the Roaring Camp and Big Trees railroad up in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Peeping Sharks…
we took our kids to Disneyland in ‘84.
I’m holding my youngest while standing in line.
Behind me is Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
The evil Queen robot opens the shades, glares at us, and closes the shades.
Youngest shrieked like i don’t know what. Forever.
She cried for the rest of the visit.
She is still a chicken to this day, at 42.
LOL...I know what you mean “forever.” I remember it well.
Of course the sharks prefer nude beaches. They would rather not have to peel them before eating.
You guy’s are just on the Edge...
;)
.
It was Moonlight Beach for me
Or South Mission and all
Points in between.
I own all but "The Hustler." Great character actor.
Probably thinks they are walruses basking in the sun.
You mean those Great Whites are swimming around without any clothes on?
I’m sorry your girlfriend had to see that. As they say, the people most likely to go nude are the ones you DON’T want to see nude.
Is that what they call them these days? ;-)
