Cutting-edge 115ft solar-powered drone can fly at 70,000ft for a YEAR

A British-built solar powered drone with a 115ft wingspan that can operate in the air for 20 months has made a successful maiden voyage to the stratosphere – the second layer of Earth's atmosphere.

Over a 24-hour period, PHASA-35 took off from New Mexico and soared to more than 66,000 feet, officially reaching the stratosphere, before landing successfully.

The 150kg solar-electric aircraft, which has a wingspan lined with solar panels, has been developed by London firm BAE Systems at their facility in Warton, Lancashire.

It is powered by the sun during the day and by batteries overnight, allowing it to maintain flight for over a year operating in the stratosphere, lower than most satellites.

PHASA-35 can carry a payload of up to 15kg including cameras, sensors and communications equipment to allow troops to talk to each other or provide internet access to rural locations during a natural disaster or emergency.

It also has the potential to be used in the delivery of communications networks including 4G and 5G, such as for regions that currently have poor coverage.

BAE systems say PHASA-35 will be available by the middle of the decade and provide a 'persistent and affordable alternative to satellite technology', which is traditionally heavier.

PHASA-35 weighs 150kg – around the same as a panda bear and a fraction of most satellites that normally weigh thousands of kg.

Developed in collaboration with engineers from Hampshire firm Prismatic, PHASA-35 will have various uses including 'ultra-long endurance intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as security'.

'The team have absolutely smashed this out of the park,' said Dave Corfield, CEO of Prismatic, shortly after the launch.

'PHASA-35's first stratospheric flight demonstrates that this vehicle is on track to become the go-to system for long endurance, high altitude and communications applications in the future.'

How long will it stay up after President Biden dims the sun to end Climate Change?

How much energy is lost in the transmission of that energy to earth?

“so will batteries on the solar powered plane”

Cells are unlikely to fail over a one-year period but even if they did, the very sophisticated BMS onboard will electronically switch those cells out, having negligible impact on the dynamic performance of the aircraft

They make all these claim, that I have become skeptical of any & all claims being made. Supposedly it will last up to a year or more, but so far all they have done, from what I read, is a 24 hour flight. I was wondering what kind of power it expended during transmissions back to earth.

So, no it is not a bizarre question at all.

Electric cars claim battery lives that take one for several hundreds of miles. but that claim is under the best of conditions. Placed under other less ideal conditions, and the degradation becomes considerable. Same with the charging times.

Unlike you, I guess, I question what I read and the claims being made. That's just the way I am, or should I say, that's the way I have become, because of the lies we are constantly bombarded with.

Not to worry, Biden’s air force will shoot it down so not year long test.

Guys, when I get bored or hear something flying over my house I check https://www.adsbexchange.com/ to see what it is. A few months ago switched over to “military only” mode, and caught a drone flying around the Yuma proving grounds down south. I thought it was interesting as it was high, and not moving very fast. Then, the next day it was still there. Then a few days later, it flew down and over/around Panama, and then back, and flew for a week or so more before it disappeared. Here we go!

So, this isn’t science fiction, it’s a big set of solar panels, some lightweight batteries, and enough comm/smarts to fly itself around.

They mentioned icing on the wings which required bringing the craft down.

I agree with what you said about electric cars but have no idea what you mean by “transmissions to earth”. Are you talking about radio spectrum communications? Those would be a very negligible factor compared to power needs for propulsion of the aircraft.

They said something about it working like a satellite, If I remember correctly. So, I assume it's purpose is to transmit data back to earth. Anything to do with solar & wind are actually more harmful to the earth than are fossil fuel usage.

Basically I'm saying I trust nothing coming out of the mouths of these people. You can guarantee that the elites will continue to use reliable fossil fuels for their energy source.
