An animation depicting how the doomed Titan sub imploded has been viewed more than 5 million times in the 11 days since the video was posted to YouTube.
The 6-minute, 20-second clip was uploaded to the video-sharing site on June 30 by AiTelly, a YouTube channel that posts original 4K and 3D engineering animations, according to the account’s “about” page.
Titan is believed to have imploded on June 18 — less than two hours into its dive to the famed Titanic shipwreck at a depth of about 5,500 feet in the North Atlantic.
All five voyagers aboard the submersible were killed.
The narration begins by explaining that an implosion is “a process of destruction by collapsing inwards on the object itself. Where explosion expands, implosion contracts.”
At the Titanic’s 12,500-foot depth at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, “there is around 5,600 pounds per square inch of pressure,” the video says.
“That’s almost 400 times the pressure we experience on the surface.”
It goes on to attribute the Titan’s doom to high hydrostatic pressure in the surrounding water.
Such force caused the OceanGate sub to crumple “within a fraction of a millisecond,” the narrator said.
The accompanying animation showed a three-dimensional OceanGate-branded submersible being crushed and torn apart.

No thanks. Society is already trash without my contribution.
This would be a good form of execution - death by compression at sea. Just need to put someone in a heavy enough tube such that it hits the bottom before the air would run out (so they don’t suffer suffocation).
People watch it because they know what an explosion does and a picture exists in their minds.
An undersea implosion not detonated by any explosive charges as is in a building planned implosion, is another thing.
The yak over this unfortunate submersible is slowing down and will only be ramped up again when an official report comes in.
Ghouls!
It really doesn’t show an “implosion” per se.....just the science and physics behind the what happened.
Interesting nonetheless.
NO IMPLOSION SHOWN IN VIDEO.
At 9 seconds…”in the case of the Titan submergible…”
While “submergible” is actually a word and is defined as a synonym of “submersible,” it is not the accepted word. Instant implosion of credibility right there.
The terminus is not accurate, according to what I read yesterday (but I don’t have the link in front of me).
Informative simulation, but they should pull & update it.
Implosions are neat. We see things explode so much implosions almost seem unnatural. And they didn’t animate blood and guts or nothing. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and not terrible rot of the world. It’s sad people in there, but implosions are still amazing to look at. Even animated.
