Those measures have contributed to the flight of millionaires and everyday workers, who have left the country to look for better opportunities, significantly hurting the nation's output and productivity. And though Putin has made a show of Russia's economic strength, his actions have only bought Russia more time, researchers warned.
"That resilience is nothing but a Potemkin façade, sustained not through genuine economic productivity but rather through shaking down the entire country for pennies to direct towards war," Sonnenfeld and Tian said. "Putin can continue to sustain his invasion of Ukraine this way, but in doing so, continues to rip off his own people. In avoiding outright economic collapse by mortgaging Russia's future, he grows more unloved by his people and is thus increasingly weakened.

Nicely said and quite accurate.
—”Russia has banned those things and is booming.”
Pls, show any evidence that the Russian economy is “booming”.
No Putin Fan. But any study from any Ivy League school is suspect. Hell, that’s true about any “study” these days.

MOSCOW, July 5. /TASS/. Russia’s economy is stably recovering, with GDP growth having reached 0.6% in the first five months of this year, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
"The country’s economy keeps stably, I would say, recovering despite sanctions <…> Russia’s GDP growth totaled 0.6% in the [first] five months, and what is very important, 5.4% in May year-on-year," he said.
Don’t speak too soon about Israel.
China is their supplier. And Russia doesn’t hamstring their industrial might like we do.
You may have no choice like Israel. And no not everyone is like Canada and living next door to us.
But it is an expense, not a moneymaker. But yes, historically a huge military is a menace to your liberty and treasury. The Founding Fathers overwhelmingly understood this.
I would like those wheels of justice to finely grind up DC and it’s occupation economy. It would be rough on regular guys like us for a few years... but it would be worth it. I’ll eat beans and rice and cornbread as long as it takes. Hell, it would be like reliving my childhood!
Yale researchers say
That’s a good one right there :P
I just saw the same fallacious argument post above, still, I have to ask.
With you being a brilliant economist...
Pls, post your CV so we may examine your education, results, and achievements...
“ I would like those wheels of justice to finely grind up DC and its occupation economy.”
That will require a new government - and the people are not ready for that - yet.
HEAR!, HEAR!
A very good post.
In the US we have been building a really good economy, and the base of it is a war machine. If it works so well in America, why not in Russia? Instead of weakening the economy, it will grow it. If it works here it will work there kinda thing.
Actually, this is just government disinformation. Yahoo is just another hand of the DS/WEF/NWO
Update on the conflict in Ukraine for July 9, 2023:
- Ukraine’s offensive is headed toward week 6 - at one and a half months, Ukraine still has not breached any of Russia’s primary defense lines;
- The US and its allies are attempting to replace lost Ukrainian equipment amid the ongoing offensive;
- The US is sending an unspecified number of 155mm cluster munitions due to a shortage of 155mm artillery ammunition;
- The US is also sending additional 155mm artillery pieces as Ukraine suffers heavy losses of equipment amid its now 5 week-long offensive;
- The US is also sending additional Bradley and Stryker vehicles in its most recent assistance package;
- Ukraine’s Swedish-equipped brigade demonstrates how even before officially becoming a NATO member, Sweden is seamlessly complicit in NATO wars and proxy wars;
- Discussed “security guarantees” for Ukraine are simply ways of rephrasing existing support and another example of NATO weakness spun as “strength;”
- Western media hails Azov leaders’ return to Ukraine despite previous coverage of their extremist ideologies;
—”The NERVE of saying that quantity has its own quality is simply NOT ALLOWED here, as it makes sense “
Bobl, in the unlikely event that you might actually read something, I would recommend to you:
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
Pirsig spent many pages on his concept of Quality.
It made my brain hurt but you will survive.

How about this for a CV; I've worked all my life, supporting my wife and children. I put them thru college, never asking them to borrow money. My net worth places me in a very comfortable range, above the average for most Americans. Most importantly, I have never, ever run a family deficit. That means I live within my means and never borrow beyond what I can pay back. Not bad for a kid who came from a broken family without a pocket to pizzz in.
Those qualifications should place me leaps and bounds above the clods you hold in esteem.

You can believe that if you like.
It is said that you cannot lie to yourself.

JR is NOT in a good mood, so I would recommend you COOL IT with the personal attacks. I already got one person here canned. Hopefully I won’t need to also report you.
More whistling past the graveyard.
That was Timber Rattler, by the way (look him up). He was warned by JR, and JR finally canned him for being a jerk to me after I reported him, yet again. Best that we keep things CIVIL here, regardless of what you may think of us opponents of the Ukraine War.
