They recommend keeping track of how much of these two oils you use a day, and substituting other lower Omega-6 oils, instead, if you need more oil.

Olive oil or butter is best, I think.

From the article: "The researchers use olive oil for cooking and salads. Other healthy options for cooking, they said, are coconut oil and avocado oil. They cautioned that corn oil, on the other hand, has the same amount of linoleic acid as soybean oil.
"We recommend keeping track of the soybean oil in your diet to make sure you are not consuming excessive linoleic acid," Deol said. "That is our take-home message."
No idea about rapeseed oil (or grapeseed oil, which we use a lot of). They didn't mention either in the article.

Try and find anything in a can that does not have soybean oil. Look at the “olive oil mayonnaise” sold at grocery stores, it's first ingredient is soybean oil. Sardines? Most are canned in soybean oil. Stay away from soy.

I’ve always heard bad things about coconut oil. First thing that turned up in a Google search:
““Saturated fats, often found in meat and dairy products as well as coconut oil, can increase LDL levels in your blood,” says Dr. Russell. “This in turn increases your risk of heart disease, peripheral artery disease and stroke.””
I do use olive oil when cooking Italian and occasionally sesame oil when cooking Chinese. I don’t use peanut oil but I know a lot of folks use it for frying.

When I was younger it wasn’t optimal, though Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, and Crisco (hydrogenated) tear up my innards now. I tried them all for popping corn.
Coconut oil seems OK, as far as that goes. And it tastes great w/ a high smoke point, less old maids. It’s more expensive. Bacon grease is great for popping corn too, but I run out quickly.

We use extra virgin olive oil and butter exclusively . As you said , they are best .

Me too. If I remember correctly, before soy oil became popular, “palm oil” (essentially coconut oil?) was the go-to greasy substance used in processed foods.
Olive oil is expensive, and I just don’t like the taste of certain things cooked in it.
Hard to beat butter, but that’s probably not good for you either. :-)

Vegetable oils are mass killers. And put in most fake foods that American consume. And endorsed by the US Govt & medical establishment.
