July 6th ushers in National Hand Roll Day with the freshest flavor and style! The day encourages us to explore our senses by experiencing one of sushi’s culinary pleasures.

Japanese sushi hand rolls delight the senses with vibrant color, taste, and texture. Since every delicate hand roll is masterfully designed, the chef presents each one as a work of art. A delicious dip into soy enhances the perfect bite, too. Whether it’s spicy or sweet, or a combination of both, we delight in eating hand rolls with friends over sake, wine, or a Japanese beer.
Ideally, a hand roll is eaten right away and consists of the freshest fish. Hand rolls also include specially harvested seaweed, house-made sauces, and warm rice. When everything comes together, the final result is not only beautiful but incredibly delicious.

NATIONAL HAND ROLL DAY HISTORY
Sushi Nozawa Group -the group behind SUGARFISH, KazuNori, and Nozawa Bar– founded National Hand Roll Day to celebrate the hand roll and Chef Nozawa introduction of the cylindrical-style hand roll to the United States over 40 years ago.
Sushi Nozawa Group opened KazuNori: The Original Hand Roll Bar in 2014 on the belief that the experience of eating hand rolls is truly something special and worthy of its own restaurant. We have several ‘Food Trucks’, AKA ‘Roach Coaches’ that come around the Industrial Park and beaches areas for lunch.

Nobu's Hand Rolls
Ingredients Toasted hand roll nori sheets Vinegared Sushi Rice Wasabi, freshly grated, frozen, or powdered mixed with water
Scallion, asparagus, avocado, and cucumbers, cut in 3-inch strips
Assorted fish, such as yellow tail, tuna, salmon, smoked salmon, and shrimp, in 3-inch strips Crab, picked over Salmon roe Cooked sausage, in 3-inch strips thin sliced American cheese, in 3-inch strips Boiled ham, in 3-inch strips
Directions Place a sheet of nori, shiny side down, in the palm of your hand. Add about 1/4 cup rice along a short side of the nori. Flatten rice with your fingertips, to cover about 1 inch of the nori. Spread with desired amount of wasabi. Top with choice of vegetables and fish.
Roll into a cone shape to enclose. Serve immediately with soy sauce and pickled ginger on the side.

Bummer. I thought it was about doobies, especially since the white house is now all ablow.
My grandpappy taught me to tear the last bit of edge off of the rolled cigarette paper (where modern rolling papers have the glue). When wetted with spit, this torn edge sticks to the rolled cigarette better than any glued edge and you can immediately get to work smoking it.
Ahhh, memories.
