The mayor of Wichita, Kansas, is calling for his city to "stand united against the alarming rise in gun violence" following a shooting at a nightclub over the weekend that left nine people injured with bullet wounds and another two hospitalized after being trampled.
Wichita Police Lt. Aaron Moses said investigators believe several shooters opened fire inside the City Nightz club just before 1 a.m. on Sunday. At least one suspect so far is in custody and police are investigating four guns recovered from the scene to determine if they were the weapons the shooters used.
"We will not tolerate gun violence in our city, and we must stand united against the alarming rise in gun violence," Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple said following the shooting, calling the safety of residents his "number one priority."

Imagine he said, “stand united against gang violence.” Totally meaningless, right? The real meaning of “stand united against gun violence” is, I haven’t a clue how to address the real problem but look over here at something we can call the real problem and I can go politic against like I’m doing something to address well...getting elected again.

mines in my pocket or on my hip when I’m home. Still hain’t jumped off and acted independently. But, I stay out of old town, and seldom visited when I did live in Wichita. Things have changed a lot since i resided there.

That is what the law enforcement is supposed to be doing, otherwise, they all can stand united, whatever that means, until they are blue in the face and fall over.
There is no such thing as "gun violence". Perhaps the mayor means to refer to violence perpetrated by members of a shielded minority group lacking impulse control, and which eschews all responsibility for their violent actions.
Trampling is good. Shooting is bad.
We need common sense Shoe Control. There is no constitutional right to wear shoes or boots.

Well, the chief of police was known as “The Dancing Cop”, so there’s that.
Maybe stand your ground laws would help deter and save some feet trample, everybody can’t gone gangster. Shoot back don’t run. Those who cut the fool should be garunteed in like company.
The logic of these idiot democrats instructs them that guns caused World War 2...not people. Ditto for bows and arrows in the Middle Ages.
If Mayors think that guns and not people cause violence they and their cities are a lost cause.
