“He said one sentence with an obscenity in there - 'you hit my blank car,' and I said, 'no, you hit my car.' And that’s when he swung with his entire force,” Avery recounted.
Just moments before that, it was a normal afternoon. He was driving on Mopac at Steck.
“And all of a sudden there is a car coming into my lane," Avery said. "I slam on the horn and hit the brakes but it’s unfortunately too late at that point.”
Even then, Avery said he didn’t think it was a big deal. “It’s a minor collision at that point.” But the driver kept driving until Avery says he got his attention and they pulled into the shopping center at Capitol of Texas Highway and 183. Avery didn’t suspect anything at this point.
“We pull into the shopping center as casually as anything possible," Avery said. "We’re using blinkers, we’re going slowly.”

Avery began to take pictures of the damage when the other driver is seen approaching him on video – with his fists.
“That little bit that he did wind up I guess was enough for my brain to realize 'you’re in danger, move your neck,'” he said
Both men move out of frame after the punch, and Avery is heard calling for help. That’s when he says the other driver walked away – exactly what AAA suggests you do.
“If you are confronted, stay as calm and courteous as possible. And if you feel threatened, call 911,” said Zuber.
When police arrived, they took the report and a copy of the video. There is now a warrant out for the other man’s arrest.
As for Avery, he plans to press charges and he says the dash cam video will help him prove it.

Sanctimonious prius driving ponytail sporting woke voting skinny jean wearing soy boy.
No, rear end hits are NOT the rear car’s fault in this case. You MUST yield to traffic already in a lane when you change lanes.
The Prius driver had plenty of time to change lanes safely. It’s not like his lane was ending. Even if it was ending, the Prius driver would STILL have to yield to traffic in the lane that continues.
The other driver could’ve waited a few seconds to make a safe lane change.
And not a flimsy cheap one that “works” like it was designed by a 3d world child.
OH B.S.; the Prius driver never used his mirrors/turned his head to look into that lane before moving. Absolutely stupid move.
Then he caps his performance by leaving the scene of the accident AND assaulting the guy he hit.
I hope to hell you drive better than that, Jonty
I’ve seen on “On Patrol Live” that many of the police cars also have them on their mirrors (and bumpers?).
I thought it was a chick at first.

“Did that punch connect at all? I can’t tell.”
Watch it in slow-mo, or frame by frame, and you’ll see his head moving with the blow and it looks at most to be a graze.
I know one thing, if a guy swung at me out of the blue, such as when exchanging info in an accident, I wouldn’t have been able to respond that quickly, and in just the right direction.
“What’s a good one?”
I like the Vantrue N1 and N2.
You’ve never dealt with austin Texas drivers.
Thanks.
I knew a co-worker who told me once that practically every weather guy in Austin was gay. He said he knew because he’d slept with two of them.
Maybe check the attacker’s pronouns?
yes the meteorologist should have hit the brakes first and then the horn...
he is a contributor to the accident... but the pony tailed ninja swerved into his lane..
tough call... he deserved a better punch...
