How awful.

Scott Adams might advise to just stay out of Mexico.

Of course, one has to wonder if he was there to collect plants or for some sort of transaction.

Might as well have wandered into the south side of Chicago on a Saturday night.

His family had begged him not to go to Sonora, a drug-plagued area that recorded 518 homicides through May, but Trujillo believed the trip was vital for his research. The US State Department urges Americans to “reconsider travel” to Sonora “due to crime and kidnapping.”
He didn’t listen so now his father has to bury a son. Him being alive was vital for his fiance.

He probably wandered into a grow field. Not sure he’d be able to take plants back across the border. I haven’t gone to Mexico in decades because of the cartel violence. It’s a shame. It’s a beautiful country and was a vibrant culture. Unfortunately the bad has come with the good across our border for far too long. I said years ago we would’ve been better off invading Mexico over Iraq.

I told you not to go to Mexico.
For any reason
Didn’t I?

Gee, I wonder who’s buying the drugs that finance the cartels.

Sad that he did not heed those pleas. Tho, perhaps, as an AZ resident, he may have crossed over many times and this time ventured upon the wrong people or to the wrong place.

Pretty much common sense. I can see why a 31 year old CA PHd student didn’t have any.

I was actually alive when being a US Citizen actually meant something.
Weird.

There’s a reason one shouldn’t go where the cartels are

The US government does not give a rip about you and will not rescue you and it has been over 100 years since they did so.
I was alive and overseas when they told us that US citizens were considered either free floating bags of money or political points to be grabbed by any one who had the nerve to do so.

So, Gabriel Trujillo was not only stupid, but he was selfish.
Yes, yes, yes. His murder is sad.
But, this is just another way (the only way?) to get a Darwin Award.
To: ChicagoConservative27
He failed to heed the warnings.

Would seem to be some most prudent advice.

Sorry for a death for anyone like that....but I am somewhat suspicious of a guy going out alone to collect plants in a drug cartel.infested area....if he was a frequent visitor....he had to know.....the police investigators are still investigating...I suspect they are trying to come up enough “facts” to explain the murder..
