Out of gratitude for hiring me at age 61 and treating me well otherwise, I would give them until the end of the summer and train my replacement.
A number of other employees wouldn't even go that far. So it is only my department which is going to make a smooth transition because some idiot CEO (who is being replaced July 1) got a bee in his bonnet over some new trend announced in Davos in January.
I suppose I could've stayed and gloated, but why?
Sorry, deal with it. If workers won’t go back to the office when requested, they should be replaced.
People working remote often moved to places that they liked, such as the countryside, and changing the rules back is both specious and malicious. Let the downtown cores ruled by parasite politicians die a slow, lingering death.
Yet another indication we live in a soft, entitled and spoiled society.

I agree.
Long-term, it’s a lost cause.
This thread will bring out the FR jackboots.
Three of the first six responses in favor of tyranny in the workplace. lol
The biggest problem I had with Working From Home is that my deal is ten steps from my refrigerator.
How many workers have side gigs that are bringing in substantial income? Can’t work those if you go into an office.
How long does it really take to do an 8-hour office job? My guess is no more than 3-4 hours; if that.
I like working from home, but I'm way ahead of the game in gas money and wear & tear on my truck.
I'm OK going back in. They just don't have the office space anymore. So I sit in a corner of my doomsday bunker all day.
Employers have the right to set the rules. Employees have the right to react. Third parties have no valid role to play.

Even Will Stockdale lost his post as Permanent Latrine Orderly, a job he loved and took seriously.
Duh. I could’ve told them that. I will not accept any project that is not 100% remote. Once they FORCED us to work remotely an we all saw it could be done just as easily from home as from the office, we realized there was no reason why we should waste our time commuting as well as bear the expense associated with commuting as well as place ourselves under the thumbs of woke HR departments.
Its not just companies will lose people by insisting they return to the office. Its that they will lose their very best people.....the ones other companies want and are prepared to offer 100% remote roles to get.
WFH?
Nevermind, figured it out.
Place I worked, I did nights, weekends and holidays. One office even had blast curtains on the windows.
Best job I was ever going to get.
