Twitter Two kayakers were nearly swallowed by a humpback whale while trying to go whale watching off the coast of Avila Beach, California. The whale's attack on Julie McSorley and Liz Cottriel's kayak, who miraculously escaped unharmed from the animal's blow, was recorded from the kayak itself by the two friends and other witnesses to the event.

The first part of the video isn't clear (from the two who were in the kayak, I guess). The 2nd part you can see the whale as it tries to take the kayak in.

Apparently the whale was after a “bait ball.” Poor whale. Some days sardines, some days kayak.
To: Twotone
The whale was chasing a school of fish and the kayak just happened to be in the way .

They could write a woke social sciences paper about it
“Cetacean heteronormative violence and rape culture in sea mammals”

No he’s smiling, because it confirms his story was true. 🙂

Humpbacks filter water for plankton.
A humpback would not deliberately try to swallow a kayak.

Wonder if the plastic boat saved their lives?
Seems to have bitten down on the boat and then spit everything out.
To: Twotone
A humpback whale is a type of baleen whale that has no teeth.
It had to spit them out.

You can tell there were no men involved from the absence of extreme and profane swearing afterward.

They were going after small “bait” fish like sardines.

“Poor whale. Some days sardines, some days kayak.”
And some days much worse: liberal California rug munchers with pronoun issues.

I don’t think a humpback whale could swallow a human if it wanted to. There is a reason they go after krill and bait fish.

I have to say...the Humpback would be barely able...if at all...capable of swallowing something so big. Their throats are not designed for anything bigger than a herring.
Krill and small fish being their main diet.

Jonah was “swallowed” by a great fish. A whale is not a fish. Nor could a whale...save an Orca or such...swallow a man.
