Yeah, they’re probably a little older. Ordering from hatcheries can be different. And pheasant are usually smaller, so that’s a factor.
Some of the locals used to complain about the geese at a city park. I found out the park people would go around and destroy the eggs in the nest. I’d get there ahead of them and bring the eggs home, either to eat them, or incubate them.

But seriously, what in the world are they doing? There’s no shortage of chickens or eggs, though prices are higher than ever.
I’m curious about chickens doing better in flocks. My daughter and SIL bought a big new house on 15 acres, half wooded. She plans to buy 3 chickens and let them peck around on the ground in a fenced area with of course a wee henhouse. Is that a problem?

Hawks, skunks, raccoons. Have her do research. Use diatomaceous earth (food grade) etc. it’s a lot more than just a fence and a coop.
