TELEGRAMS FROM HARRISBURGH.
HARRISBURGH, Tuesday, June 16, 12 o'clock, Midnight.
Two reporters have just returned from in front of the rebel pickets, who are forty-seven miles from Harrisburgh, at Scotland Bridge, which they burned this morning. A party of 15 set fire to the structure.
The rebels are encamped at three points around Chambersburgh, and are 3,500 strong, under Gen. JENKINS.
The rebels say that a brigade under Gen. RHODES is coming, and that they have seized 200 horses, to mount their infantry.
The rebels have 15 pieces of artillery.
This morning a skirmish took place in the town between some rebels and some men from Carlisle Barracks. No lives were lost.
Gen. JENKINS has ordered all the stores to be opened.
The rebels made prisoners of seven citizens, but injured no private property.
At Scotland Bridge the rebels spared a warehouse and two ears merely on the statement that they were owned by individuals.
They seized the flour mills near Chambersburgh, and have placed a guard over them.
The rebel pickets say that Gen. MILROY has escaped to Harper's Ferry.
To-day the rebels were three times drawn up in line of battle, expecting an attack from our forces at Harrisburgh.
At Greencastle matches were arranged so as to set fire to the Government properly at a moment's notice but no property had been burned up to noon today.
Citizens were allowed to leave Chambersburgh at first, but permission was afterwards refused.
At this late hear, it is only possible to state that every appearance indicates that this raid of the rebels is only one of a usual character, and does not design any attack upon our cities, their object being to obtain horses and forage.
Additional artillery is on the way here for our fortifications.

There is a report about the burning of Darien, Georgia by a Coloured Regiment under a Colonel Mongomery. That incident was portrayed in the movie “Glory”.
In today’s paper? I have seen articles about it while prepping posts but I thought it was still to come.
Found it - one sentence on page 5. I’m pretty sure there will be more extensive coverage in future editions.

There is an ad for INDIA RUBBER GOODS by Goodyear’s. Would that be THE Goodyear, the tire company?
Those would be freedmen, kidnapped for sale at Confederate slave auctions.
