I had a MOTHER dragging her TODDLER into the Garden Center and in her other hand was a handful of Nightshade with the red berries! Is this poisonous? Um - YES!
The kid had eaten a BUNCH of them - I mean, REALLY? They’re awfully bitter tasting! But, my sister stuck a bunch of bean seeds up her nose when she was a toddler, so who can say? ;)
Anyhow, I called Poison Control and they met her and the kid in an Ambulance in our parking lot. Never a dull moment! (We also had a woman suffer a major heart attack at our front door! Yikes! NOT on the same day though, LOL!)
Scary, to say the least. The kid was OK, but probably didn’t like that dose of Ipecac Syrup. ;)
Yeah...my mother was freaked because a kid somewhere had died
Howdy! I added a David Austin rose to my garden this week. Purchased at The Bruce Company in Middleton. Variety is Olivia (hardy to zone 4) a soft pink with a lot of petals per bloom and a strong sweet fragrance. My first David Austin rose. The official pot that rose was sold in is very fancy! Kind of a royal looking crest in gold and a green thick plastic pot in a square shape. I will plant something pretty in that pot.

You are reminding me of my daughter when she was young and ate some berries off of a bush in our starter home front yard. I donāt even remember what they were, but yes, I had to call poison control for that incident. I was worried that Childrenās Services were going to come for a visit. It was the second time that I had called Poison Control. Both times I had to make her throw up.
Iām fortunate. No authorities ever visited. She is getting married 3 weeks from today. Destination wedding for everyone but the two of them. Heading to the mountains in Oregon. Planning is coming down to the nitty gritty, so I will probably be posting less the next few weeks.
Today I took a shot at decent weather to get a few more things planted, all flowers. It took me a while to find impatiens this year, but I eventually did, and now they are in a cart by our fire pit, just in time for lightning bug season. Yay! One of my favorite times of the year! On a clear night, it looks like the stars are falling out of the sky, twinkling all the way down! Itās just beautiful to watch the fireflies moving through the woods. Almost magical!
