As millions of Americans across the Midwest and the Northeast on Thursday woke up to hazy skies and significant air pollution for a third straight day caused by smoke drifting from hundreds of Canadian wildfires, the impact of the smoke has not been uniform.
Poorer people and many communities of color already at a higher risk of particle pollution in their everyday lives, experts say, are disproportionately being affected by this latest wave of smoke infiltrating the region.
“Whether it’s diesel trucks and buses in people's neighborhoods, commuter cars or power plants — there are a lot of communities that have already been impacted by air pollution,” Sacoby Wilson, a public health professor at the University of Maryland, told Yahoo News. “This additional pollution from wildfires is making that situation worse.”

Drug dealers need to remember to stay indoors.

And during Pride Month. Righties somehow manipulated this event intentionally. News at 10.
They can’t breave.
Oh good grief.
I’ve lived among streets loaded with buses, trucks, cars, etc., for almost 70 years - often right along with ‘people of color’.
I wonder how the POCs would get along if we just cut out all the traditional vehicles that deliver food and other necessities, got rid of the buses that we all use, no matter our ‘color’, etc. I suspect they won’t be happy. (And God forbid any of them live near a volcano...)
I get most affected when people try to blow smoke up my ass.
Beat me by 15 seconds.
They purposely burned the trees that affect black people the most, black walnut, Japanese black pine, black gum, etc...
Its obvious, isn’t it?
Here we go again
Every few months for the last few years an article like this is published.
Maybe poor black and brown people should be relocated to a remote desert where there is nothing to burn to make smoke, and no vehicles to pollute their air... You know, for the sake of Equity, and for their own good.
The World Ends Tomorrow! Women, children, Blacks, the poor, gays, trans hurt the most.
One of our GK’s went to a 4 year nursing school in the NE and has lived and worked in that area for 3+ more years.
The smoke from Canada is the worse she has ever seen.
She and her fellow RN’s and medical workers are wearing R95 masks. She never wore one during the Covid BS.
Another grant seeking “public health” academic spewing crap
