The Boston Police Deptartment is investigating a car crash involving Mayor Michelle Wu on Tuesday, according to city officials.
Video obtained by Boston 25 News shows a police cruiser with activated lights, carrying the Mayor attempting to make a left turn onto Hyde Park Ave. The video shows the lights on Hyde Park Ave. are green and the Mayor’s driver makes a left off of Blakemore St.
You can see in the video at least one vehicle stops as Wu’s vehicle emerges into the intersection. A second vehicle traveling on Hyde Park Ave then collides with Wu’s vehicle. The vehicle is carrying a mother and a child, a source tells Boston 25.
“We can confirm the mayor was a passenger in a vehicular crash earlier today. Thankfully no one sustained any major injuries. The Boston Police Department will conduct an investigation of the incident as they do with all crashes involving departmental motor vehicles,” the city said in a statement.
A neighbor sent photos to Boston 25 showing the aftermath of the crash involving Mayor Wu. They show Wu consoling the mother and child of the other vehicle involved before they were evaluated by EMT’s.
The crash remains under investigation.

In Memphis the hood rats just glance for any cop cars? None recognized, they just run any light they come to. Many areas of the city are just “Lord of the Flies” now, only with guns and no brains.

When I drove an ambulance, we didn’t use lights and sirens transporting a patient unless the patient was critical. We stopped at lights and drove at the limit.

Why does the Mayor of Boston need to be driven with the police car emergency lights on? Why is she so special to not have to sit in traffic?
I’ve seen the Gov of CT get driven around, usually in a Tahoe or similar and 1 or 2 other slick top State Police cars. Never seen them use lights unless they get too broken up/spread out.

Well, just be thankful they don’t do what the President does. When Trump’s motorcade came past my work one time, they blocked off the route like an hour ahead of time and towed any cars that hadn’t been moved. Then you don’t need to worry about traffic lights at all :)
They say she made a statement. But it was she didn’t know much of anything and there will be an internal review about the lights being in flashing mode.
