TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Debate surrounding Florida’s new restrictions on gender-affirming care focused largely on transgender children. But a new law that Republican presidential candidate and Gov. Ron DeSantis signed last month also made it difficult – even impossible – for many transgender adults to get treatment.
Eli and Lucas, trans men who are a couple, followed the discussions in the Legislature, where Democrats warned that trans children would be more prone to suicide under a ban on gender-affirming care for minors and Republicans responded with misplaced tales of mutilated kids. Eli said he and his partner felt “blindsided” when they discovered the bill contained language that would also disrupt their lives.
“There was no communication. … Nobody was really talking about it in our circles,” said Eli, 29.
Like many transgender adults in Florida, he and Lucas are now facing tough choices, including whether to uproot their lives so that they can continue to access gender-confirming care. Clinics are also trying to figure out how to operate under regulations that have made Florida a test case for restrictions on adults.
Lucas, 26, lost his access to treatment when the Orlando clinic that prescribed him hormone replacement therapy stopped providing gender-affirming care altogether. The couple also worries about staying in a state that this year enacted several other bills targeting the LGBTQ+ community.
“My entire life is here. All my friends, my family. I just got a promotion at my job, which I’m probably not to be able to keep,” Lucas, who works in a financial aid office at a college, said. “I’m losing everything except Eli and my pets moving out of here. So this was not a decision that I took lightly at all.”

The news media likes making “scare statements”, but doesn’t like having to quote the actual legislation that they are upset by. I had to scroll through 3 pages of google results to get even this.
“In the film “What is a Woman” a trans-man (who at the age of 42 was conned into becoming a “man”) “And if I can be conned - how much easier for a 16 year old!?” She is very active in getting the “gender-care” shut down for kids.”
That part of the movie was so depressing (as was the entire thing), as the woman told about how quickly the health care industry convinced her to go through those horrible surgeries. It apparently did not take her long to realize the mistake she had made. She was correct in that if they could convince a 42 year old woman to have such surgeries, 16 year old teens do not have a chance.
“trans children would be more prone to suicide”
...there’s the bully line. And as I understand it, having the surgery changes very little, if anything. These are disturbed people, prone to violence....it’s becoming obvious, they consider any alternate narrative to be “words are violence”, or “encouraging ‘trans genocide’” - all to justify real violence in return.
I suggest we start calling it suicide-affirming care.
Yes, article said doctors might not want to treat transpsychos, because Florida was making it legal to sue physicians for malpractice for 20 years. Those physicians obviously don’t think they should be trusted.
“Obamacare mandated sex reassignment surgery be in every policy.
Follow the money.”
I have one better. It pays to do it but NOT to undo it. So if they want to detransition, then they have to pay for it.
They don’t know this
go back to california. freaks
BINGO! Britain determined ‘GenderAffirming’ care is experimental, so they are limiting that med care. So, physicians know they’re taking serious chances providing those meds and mutilation care.
It is past time for these folks to leave Florida. Just go.
And take a friend with you.
So move. How hard is that.
Go to a state where they are trying to make everyone trans. There are several possibilities out there.
“Health-care” the headline says. Then “gender affirming care” in the article. Euphemisms for taking advantage of mentally ill people by mutilation their body to superficially reassemble the opposite sex.
And it pisses me off. If I want to have a breast reduction (I am a bit heavy on top) to help with a severe back pain problem. I can’t because it is considered “elective”. If a person wanted a tummy tuck to help with losing weight...no way! It is elective. But these people who think life would be better if they were another gender can get all the elective surgery they want because it is a “mental” issue. Well, isn’t back pain and not being able to do most exercises to lose weight a “mental” issue and also a health issue? Well, it’s not according to the medical profession and the insurance companies. If I only declare myself a male, I can get my breasts loped off and my back problem is helped. It is insane!!
It’s not gender affirming, it’s gender denying.
Like abortion is “reproductive care”, no, it’s murder.
Racketeering by any other name
“care”
*spit*
Yes, you're correct. Mentioned that in #16. This is all nuts.
GTFO of Florida, freaks!
No, this is not about money.
The trans cult is willing to lose money (suffer boycotts, risk lawsuits) if that's what it takes to continue their path.
Money might be provided to continue mutilating children. But money is not the motivating factor. The motivating factor is demonic.
“The motivating factor is demonic.”
Agreed. I came to the thought a few weeks ago how God wants us to have good families which in turn provides a good society.
LBJ and the “Great Society” destroyed black families, and black society has been in a tail spin ever since and affecting many around it.
I believe that Satan is using the trans-cult to destroy middle to upper-class families to further his mission of destroying a good (and Godly) society. The huge increase in girls-to-boys transitions is mostly in white girls from middle to upper class.
In the last ten years boys-to-girls has doubled. Girls to boys is up 1,000 % or more.
